That's why GM needs to look, and has been, at smaller more efficent cars around the globe. Most don't have the money or space like we do.

I think that graphic pretty much says it all.

Overlay some metric of average wealth, or maybe % of people able to afford a car, or something like that for each piece of the pie, and it would be interesting to see if the graphic still "says it all."

The graphic you describe would be excellent for short term planning. You're right.

However, I believe that as the world progresses from this point, developing countries such as China and India are only going to get closer to our standard of living. Therefore, making simple graphs such as the one I posted more important in the long term.
