The Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Regal/LaCrosse have shared the same platform for 20 years. With the SWB Zeta G8 replacing the GP. The LaCrosse will likely be replaced by a SWB Zeta as well. Naturally the LWB Zeta would replace the Lucerne. The best part is that both Zetas could be here in 18 months.

I can't wait!

If anybody has proof that my speculation is correct. PLEASE! Post it!

    I hope we get at least TWO Zetas per division.

    In a perfect world Chevy, Buick & Pontiac would all get FOUR (two 2-doors & two 4-doors)

    So this is the way I see it. I'm just saying best case scenario.... I'm not holding my breath.

    SMALL 2-door hardtop:

    - Buick Regal or Skylark (optional G.N. package)

    - Chevrolet Camaro

    - Pontiac Firebird

    BIG 2-door hardtop:

    - Buick Riviera

    - Chevrolet Monte Carlo

    - Pontiac Tempest/GTO

    SWB 4-door sedans:

    - Buick Invicta

    - Chevrolet Chevelle

    - Pontiac Grand Prix (f*ck the G8 moniker)

    LWB 4-door sedans:

    - Buick Electra

    - Chevrolet Impala (or Caprice Classic)

    - Pontiac Catalina

    That's in a perfect world. :AH-HA_wink:

    I thought it was clearly established that the next gen LaCrosse was going to be on Epsilon II? I don't think Buick would go 100% RWD with their sedans. There are many who wish to purchase a FWD sedan. Look at the ES? It sells very well for a luxury vehicle even though it's FWD.

    Except that it's false. Next Lacrosse is on Epsilon II.

    I assume Buick will have 2 sedans...the Epsilon II LaCrosse (what's the big deal with Epsilon II vs. Epsilon I, anyway?) and a Zeta-based Lucerne replacement eventually...

    I believe so, too.

    Epsilon II will be laterally wider and adaptable for AWD in addition to other refinements. I believe the original Epsilon Wide was supposed to underpin the 2005 LaCrosse and 9-5, but it was cancelled early on.

    Buick gets the LaCrosse on Epsilon II as a 2010MY vehicle and the Lucerne on Zeta as a 2011 MY vehicle. No coupe is in the plans right now, as far as I know.

    Epsilon II is also longer, at least in the standard midsize wheelbase (+2ʺ) which will underpin the Epica and the sedan formerly known as Vectra.

    It seems dumb for GM to build two LWB Zetas (Impala & Lucerne) and only one SWB Zeta(G8). May be Saturn might get one then. I have no idea. An Epsilon 2 Buick seems like a AARP car of the year, considering that the G8 will be sold right by it. I understand that Buick's AARP custumers want FWD but, if they really need a FWD conservatively styled sedan buy a freakin 2008 Malibu. The last thing Buick needs is another Century, even if its styled like the Enclave.

    Agreed. The LaCrosse will beon Epsilon II. It'll be squarely aimed at the ES350. The Lucerne replacement should be int he form of the SWB Holden, sharing the platform with the G8 and next gen Impala. My only hope is that these cars aren't heavily revised enough to look different from one another. I really hope that they spend the money to make the Buick cars completely unique. I'd love to see the LWB Zeta come in the version of a flaship Buick; a value alternative to the LS460. Throw in a Velite coupe and maybe a small crossover off the next Theta and along with the Enclave, you've got a hell of a lux lineup.
