August 20, 200520 yr I thought just the regular models were going to get the new grill and the SS will be the same.. but then I saw the 2nd pic in, top row.. http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado/photogallery/ How ever I do love the Intimidator shot B) Though.. with that name on something other than a monte boggles my mind
August 20, 200520 yr Interesting, I thought the SS would stay the same too, but apparantly not. It does look pretty like that, though. My dealer has a full stock of '06s, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had so many already. I just noticed this pic, looks sweet:
August 20, 200520 yr That's too much chrome for the SS. For the non-SS models, I do like the HD-grille but not the domed hood. I also like that the top of the bumper is now painted.
August 21, 200520 yr Author I really like the SS...the front end looks great. [post="1277"][/post] If it had a more edged and body color grill simular to what the 06 Trailblazer LTs have I think it would looks sweet.. however that grill looks like it was placed there as a last minute though.. Something else that would make that more sweet is having the vents inbetween the headlights like the Trailblazer SS does
August 21, 200520 yr I agree with you...the Trailblazer idea. I think sometimes when one is so used the original grill, when they make a change like this, it can look like a patch job. And of course, car fans like us notice every little detail :). I still like it though. Again, glad Chevy is inching away from the chrome bar thing.
August 21, 200520 yr I'm happy to see a return of chrome intermingling with black trim on SS models. To me, it's classier than the monochrome look.
August 21, 200520 yr I agree, it is pretty classy-looking while retaining its muscular, aggressive look. Anyone else notice the lack of GM badges on any of those photos?
August 21, 200520 yr Nice additional photos, but the Silverado still sucks, and its even worse by the retarded trim level shuffle (i.e. former Base model is now LS; LS is now 1LT, and then 2LT and 3LT-like that's not going to confuse people)-its so stupid-what were they thinking? And considering a Ram 1500 SLT is about $22,000-23,000 the last time I checked, the comparable 1LT is a still vastly-overpriced $26,000-WHY???
August 21, 200520 yr What's the point? With new pickups coming in a year or so, why WASTE the money to engineer such a minor change when you could direct those funds to more useful measures? I just see this as a stupid waste of resources on GM's part.....good-looking or not...
August 21, 200520 yr Maybe they felt the need to do something since the Ram was refreshed this year and they hadn't yet updated it since the F-150 launch? Edited August 21, 200520 yr by CSpec

Maybe they got good feedback from customers and decided to do it for the 1500s to keep sales up for the last year of the model.
August 21, 200520 yr Automakers used to do complete body changes annually. Changing a grill is not a stretch. Why not freshen it?...they should be doing this as a matter of routine anyways.
August 21, 200520 yr They might have done this to get the 06's off the lot next year this way they have room for the new 07's, if you notice the suburban has a really nice lookin LTZ model, and i noticed that the 06 aveo has noo GM Badge's
August 22, 200520 yr Originally the Silverado was supposed to be around for a couple of years, so a refresh for two model years makes sense. Plus these changes probably cost next to nothing except that the body-colored grille and bumper cap probably adds a little bit of complexity to the assembly.
August 22, 200520 yr Chevy offers an accessory chrome grille that looks good for '03 to '05 trucks. I think it looks better than billet grilles (don't like the grille guard though):
August 22, 200520 yr No GM emblem on '06 Trailblazers, GMC Sierras, or Express vans either, from what I've seen.
August 22, 200520 yr The GM emblems are only going on what reflects the "new" GM. Anything more than a couple years old except for the CTS I think won't have it until they are redesigned.
August 22, 200520 yr When I was in a Pontiac dealer recently, the first thing out of the salesman's mouth was, 'did you notice they new GM badge?'
August 22, 200520 yr Can i post a picture of the new avalanche its not in camo but its also not in the whare house where the tahoe and escalades pics were takin illegaly
August 22, 200520 yr can someone please post some pics of the gm badge, i cant say that ive seen one yet

[post="1402"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post] 1. you still want them to SELL trucks, right? 2. The trim levels were changed because the truck owners wanted it to be that way. from now on, there are only going to be LS and LT badges. and the packages will change to put the popular ops into the "LT" packs.. and still be able to order custom-to-order too.. 3. Overpriced a bit this year, but will carry heavier rebates thoughout the year. The 07s get a bunch more standard next year... Guess it would help if you understood the truck market.. :P
August 22, 200520 yr uhh i know it aint the best pic in the world but the silver little sqaure on the equinox on my signature well thats a GM badge

September 5, 200520 yr i completly forgot that i had posted in this thread, but thanks for posting the pics for me, i noticed my first gm badge the other day on a new impala (the first new impala ive seen by the way)

What parts here don't I understand? The fact that were I deluxe-trim full-size truck shopping, that I could get a bigger cab and more for a cheaper price and a more up-to-date truck for $3,000-4,000 less money? I guess part of me doesn't like change, especially the kind that still seems unnecessary and pointless. Of course I'd want them to sell trucks, I never said I didn't. And yes, the 1500's have a new grille (the HD's two-piece) as well as the hood-passed by some on the lots.
