February 12, 200719 yr Keep your eyes open for a '73-'77 Chevelle, El Camino or Monte carlo with a decent sandalwood (light tan) interior that I can raid. Finder's fee: your choice of 6-pack
February 12, 200719 yr You got it. Check this thread out. For that dash, it looks like you might have to either go with for a dash cap, or have yours done over (check that www.justdashes.com link - it can be done). A good dash will probably cost a lot on eBay. Anything else you need besides the dash?
February 12, 200719 yr You can never have too many 73-77 El Caminos - http://reno.craigslist.org/car/272110034.html
February 12, 200719 yr Author Thanks Z. I've seen that thread - and Just Dashes looks like an option (an expensive one). But I'm hoping I can find a useable original. Hmm, shipping from Reno... That car looks way too clean to steal parts from. EDIT: I won't know what else I need until the car gets here, probably thursday.
February 12, 200719 yr Next time we're AT THIS JUNKYARD I'll look around for ya, off the top of my head I do not recall seeing any '70s Caminos but then again I pay more attention to the Pre-War & '50s stuff.
February 12, 200719 yr Author If this car (from that thread) has a sandalwood interior, it very well could help me out. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...st&p=137405

Dude, how could you forget that '75ish El Camino in the front row, in front of the office, like a few cars down from that '61 Fleetwood and Centurion convertible? Remember, the bluish one?
February 13, 200719 yr Sorry for the double post, but you can SEE the El Camino I'm talking about all the way over to the right in this picture!
February 13, 200719 yr Author Right vintage. Could have the right color interior, but I'd bet that it's blue.
February 13, 200719 yr Right vintage. Could have the right color interior, but I'd bet that it's blue. But a seat is a seat and you could always have it reupholstered. Were I you, though, I'd instead be on the hunt for some of those awesome swivel buckets found in Grand Prixs/Monte Carlos/Cutlass Supremes from the same era; now THOSE are swank!
February 13, 200719 yr Author But a seat is a seat and you could always have it reupholstered. Were I you, though, I'd instead be on the hunt for some of those awesome swivel buckets found in Grand Prixs/Monte Carlos/Cutlass Supremes from the same era; now THOSE are swank! Mine has a seat. The main item of concern is the dash pad, followed by the door panels. You could get the swivel buckets in Caminos and Chevelles too, but I'm a purist and this one didn't come with them so it doesn't get them. I'd make an exception if I were building a "no rules" toy though.
February 13, 200719 yr http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/car/274521381.html Obviously this thing is way too nice to ever be a parts vehicle, but keep your eyes on the prize and this is what yours will become some day! ..... the more I read the threads about these things, the more I want one myself!
February 17, 200719 yr Hard to tell from the pics, but the inside looks pretty good on this one: http://pensacola.craigslist.org/car/275000634.html
February 17, 200719 yr I saw a '69 El Camino and a Chevelle (didn't get close enough to get the year or price, but it looked mint from 200 feet) at dealerships yesterday. The El Camino had a tag hanging in the window with the price on it, $18k.

I ain't gonna let you raid no Monte Carlo. Hmph. But, if you'd like to get parts from a DONOR CAR (the politically-correct terminology), then, yes, you may.
