Perfect Timing songs

Featured Replies

The Sunday before my pacemaker replacement surgery, I took my '87 MC LS to get washed and then drove it out to the heated garage where the older 4 MCs are stored to leave it since I wouldn't be able to drive for a week. During the drive between the car wash and the garage, a song came on the air that seems to "pop up" just when I need it. For whatever reason, whenever I hear the entire song on the radio, I get the "it's going to be all OK" feeling.

The song?

"Drift Away" ... and it doesn't matter if it is Dobie Gray's original version or Uncle Cracker with Dobie Gray. It is one song that tells me everything is going to be fine. Most times, I'm hearing it during a road trip ... and it settles me down quite a bit. Not even sure why, perhaps it is the "confused and wasting time" feeling that turns into relaxation and comfort feelings from the music....

At any rate, this made me think of other "Perfect Timing" songs for me ... such as Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats". Again, not sure why, but I tend to hear this one when I'm needing to vent/let off steam. Perhaps it is the blending of baseball and cars in the line, "I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights", that makes me smile and relax a bit ... I don't know.

So ... what songs are "Perfect Timing" songs for you?

He he ... love that one, too, Captain.

WGN used it for the theme on Cubs broadcasts in 1984 and a few years later, I think.

In 2001, when a buddy of mine from PA came out to visit me, he and I and a few others drove down to central IL in my buddy's '87 MC LS to see a bunch of people ... and, the first song we heard as we drove out of Elgin ... "JUMP" by VH :). He he
