I recently joined the Society of Automotive Engineers so I am able to attend a few seminars this year at the 2007 World Conference in April at Cobo Hall. They have some interesting presentations like Diesel Emissions and Aftertreatment Devices: Design and Durability, Catalytic Converters: Design and Durability, Fundamentals of All-Wheel Drive Systems, and the AVL Technology Theater.

So I was just wondering if anyone else was a member, or planning on attending any of the upcoming SAE events?

First I thought this was for the fraternity.. Anyway, nope, not a member. Maybe one day..

Hm... I'm guessing you'd actually have to be an automotive engineer to join their society. So that counts me out.

So does the SAE send you any publications?

Yeah, when you sign up you can choose from a couple different publications (Automotive Engineering International, SAE Off-Highway Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering) to receive a hard copy of. They have digital copies of all their publications as well as technical papers and some books.

I'm a student member of SAE, I haven't attended any seminar though, they're too rich for my blood. I got the Automotive Handbook from them, which is an excellent book for any auto enthusiast.

I should be a member shortly. I've been in ASME for a long time, but somehow just glanced over this for a while...
