March 2, 200719 yr I am considering a low-mileage car, unfortunately it is a 1995 Neon but it does have 76,000 kms and is almost free of rust except for the underbody. They want $2000 for this car certified and all repaired, it needs new exhaust and new lines. Would this vehicle be worth $2000?
March 2, 200719 yr at RBB Seriously, don't bother. You can't give me a Neon. For the same price, take your chances on a higher-mileage J-body before you think about buying a Neon.
March 2, 200719 yr I would be inclined to say no, $2k Canadian is about $1700 American, and there is no way a '95 Neon (even with so few miles) is worth that much, especially if it has under body rust. You can easily find something better, hell a rust-free '93 Accord will cost $1500 US (if that) and will run forever. My brother-in-law's (the one I drove after my wreck) has cost him less than $1500 for the car, registration, new tires/brakes and a new hood/grille/headlights ('twas in a fender bender before he bought it) and its a very solid car that would look great with a paint job and will run well past the 250k miles on it right now. If the engine does go out, a new one from the junkyard will cost a few hundred bucks.

We actually looked at a Neon when we were car shopping, and we test drove it. It's certainly a fun-to-drive little car...but the guy was offering $800 bucks for it. Is the underbody rust surface or deeper? Neons are fun to drive little cars but There are better vehicles out there (no J-bodies though).
March 2, 200719 yr Author It is just surface rust but I decided to ignore this one. I took a look at it and something is up with it. Turns out it may have head gasket issues.

Something common to those Neons. You shoulda gone with the Aries 150 bucks and all. I saw one for $700 bucks...that's crazy for one of those!
March 3, 200719 yr Author I still know where the Aries is. They want $500 for it now at another dealer. It needs rear struts, body work and who knows how rusty it is underneath. I don't even know the actual mileage. I actually found a 1967 or 68 Eldorado the other day but I dont know if it is for sale. It was gold and in need of desperate restoration. The paint and body were still good though.
