March 2, 200719 yr 1931 Studebaker Fire Truck. (1 of 4 produced) I seem to gravitate toward odd things like this. Of course, my family has been in the fire fighting business for years now. Maybe someday I can either afford this, an old school bus or a Futurliner. Edited March 2, 200719 yr by FUTURE_OF_GM
March 2, 200719 yr The Knox Dale Vol Fire Dept has an antique fire truck. It's always brought out for the Homecoming parade. Maybe one of these days, I'll get a pic.
March 2, 200719 yr Author That's awesome man! I remembered you mentioning that a while back nd how you get weird looks when you drive it.
March 2, 200719 yr No way, antique fire engines are an awesome choice, and Studebaker used to make some of the sharpest trucks going! I've always wanted an antique fire engine to restore, if nothing else but so I could tell people I owned a classic convertible and then pull up in something like this 1923 American LaFrance: Blood red with intricate gold leaf, mahogany hose beds and brass pump valves, nickel-plated this and copper-plated that is a look that can never and will never be topped by anything; antique fire engines are the coolest!
March 2, 200719 yr My hometown's fire department has an 1878 Silsby Steam Pumper that they still run every year for the fair parade. They also have a 1917 Model T and a 1919 GMC fire truck. Edited March 2, 200719 yr by mustang84
March 2, 200719 yr FOG you are not wierd, just wierder. I think it is a great idea of restoring fire engines. It just is a classic which deserves a better treatment.
March 2, 200719 yr Looking back at some of my projects, I don't think I'd have room to talk if I called you weird. :AH-HA_wink:
March 2, 200719 yr There's a playground not too far from where I grew up that had one of those on premises as a sort-of jungle gym. My dad's a Paramedic/fireman, and I used to love playing on that thing. Beautiful rig. -RBB
March 2, 200719 yr Author I almost forgot... I snaped these at Auto Fair at Lowes Motor Speedway last fall. I thought I had a better picture of the newer truck, but I guess not. (I'll look to make sure though, as both were beautifully restored) A closer look revealed that it still had the chain drive rear end under it. Pretty cool! I'm not sure if they were owned by a private collector or Charlotte FD. Edited March 2, 200719 yr by FUTURE_OF_GM

If it were just a firetruck I probably wouldn't care so much, but its a Studebaker firetruck, which makes worlds of difference to me. Edited March 2, 200719 yr by AxelTheRed
