March 16, 200719 yr After a week of above average temperatures and a high of near 70 () yesterday, I'm now under a Winter Storm Warning. Crazy. It's Currently 39 degrees and raining lightly. The rain is forecast to mix with and change to snow overnight and continue throughout all of Friday and Friday night. The snowfall totals grow higher everytime I check the forecast. I was shocked to see a Winter Storm Watch up for my area when I woke up this morning. It really took me by surprise. I'm hearing 8 to 14" when all is said and done. The amount of sand and salt local road crews have used this year is insane. Trucks are already spreading salt in my neighborhood, even with light rain falling and a temperature above freezing. I'm sure that makes sense to someone, but it certainly isn't me. My forecast: Winter Storm Warning URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE UPTON NY 416 PM EDT THU MAR 15 2007 ...SIGNIFICANT SNOW AND SLEET POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT... A STRONG COLD FRONT HAS PASSED SOUTH OF THE TRI-STATE AREA AND WILL BECOME NEARLY STATIONARY ALONG THE EASTERN SEABOARD TONIGHT. IN ITS WAKE...RAIN WILL FALL ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING...BUT WITH THE COLDER AIR TAKING HOLD...THE PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO A MIXTURE OF SLEET AND SNOW ACROSS INTERIOR LOCATIONS LATE THIS EVENING AND THEN THE CHANGEOVER WILL MOVE TOWARDS THE COAST BY DAYBREAK. WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO PICK UP IN INTENSITY ON FRIDAY FROM SOUTH TO NORTH AS LOW PRESSURE CURRENTLY OVER THE GULF COAST DEEPENS AND MOVES NORTHEAST TO NEAR THE MID ATLANTIC COAST BY FRIDAY EVENING...THEN RAPIDLY STRENGTHENS AND LIFTS NORTH ALONG THE NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST COASTS FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY. PRECIPITATION COULD BECOME MODERATE TO HEAVY FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO FRIDAY NIGHT WITH 5 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS COASTAL LOCATIONS...TO AS MUCH AS 8 TO 14 INCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET NORTH AND WEST OF NEW YORK CITY. THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY TO THE EXACT TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM WHICH WILL AFFECT THE SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS.
March 16, 200719 yr It was up to 84 here yesterday and its now 44. We also have a winter storm warning here and we're expected to get 5-10 inches of snow.
March 16, 200719 yr It was 71 degrees today when I had lunch at the Blue Parrot outside on the deck with friends in Wilmington, Delaware. Tonight rain and more rain. Tomorrow's forcast is for snow during the day and more snow tomorrow night. There is no justice! Edited March 16, 200719 yr by Pontiac Custom-S
March 16, 200719 yr Temperatures nosedived here this afternoon, and it started spitting rain. Forecast is for 3-5" of snow in my area, 6-12' a bit farther north. Horrible, just horrible. Edited March 16, 200719 yr by ocnblu
March 16, 200719 yr A few days ago it was really warm. Today, it was raining, sleeting, and snowing... Lots of flooding.
March 16, 200719 yr Because of the beautiful weather on Wednesday, and subsequently the horrible weather forecasted for this weekend, I took the SKY out for it's first top-down drive of 2007. It is now safely parked in the garage, away from the wet, cold weather and the salt/sand that will be around again soon I'm sure.
March 16, 200719 yr Great...more road salt. It figures, I just washed both cars. Until next time, 73* weather...
March 16, 200719 yr Yup, anywhere from 7-10 inches of snow due in my area, as well as sleet and freezing rain. I have work tomorrow...I don't wanna go!
