GM Dream Cars, that escaped destruction (video)

Featured Replies

Wow... a car made of lead...

Not only is it good that it got rescued because it's a car that was worth it, but also because if it got left alone, that would have been a mini enviro-disaster waiting to happen.

Nice!

Ah... Parisienne, Club de Mer, Bonneville Special... sweetness.

It should go without saying that finding a concept car 'in the wild' or in someone's garage after decades of slumber, is my all-time favorite daydream. The (full-size) Club deMer & the '56 Olds Golden Rocket have been rumored to be in Jersey.... I keep my eyes open all the time. ;)

All awesome videos of amazing concept cars. Good to see that the fiberglass has held up well on both of the Bonneville Specials as early fiberglass is noted for failing; a friend of my father has restored a few Kaiser Darrins in his time and the starting points for all would have fallen apart if you looked at them the wrong way.

Anyone know if these are still around ('56 Impala, '54 Strato-Streak)?

If not, then it sickens me that this abortion survived...

I think all three of those babies are sweet. The Impala is the best looking, though.

Fly-

By all accounts the '56 Impala was destroyed.

The '54 Strato-Streak and the '55 Strato-Star's whereabouts are unknown, no whispers as to survival, strongly believed that both these Pontiacs were destroyed.

The '55 Biscayne DOES have a hideous headlight treatment and a strange toothy mug, but from the side & rear it has a lot of the same funky clunky charm the 1st gen Corvairs have. If that happens to butter your biscuit...

Hey- absolutely ANY domestic dream car that survived, I bow to and appreciate. Even the {gulp!} Biscayne.
