Whatever it may be, Caddy is still much nicer-looking.
Freestyle rebadge is more like it. If the concept is this mildly differentiated, the production version should be terrible.

I actually like the Mercury... and love the SRX more obviously. It's actually the rear where they look exactly the same. Look at how Ford ripped off the doors, C-pillar and rear glass.

There's no respect for intelectual property these days. Look at the McLaren F1 and Sallen S7. <_<

But the Freestyle (upon which the Mercury is based) is much smaller than the SRX. Stances are completely different. I really don't see much resemblence.
I see the resemblance, loud and clear, but the vehicles occupy quite different levels in the market, so it's not really an exact copy--the Ford/Mercury are more "family" and max out around $35k, while the Caddy can hit around $60k (not to say that it's actually worth that much, but....). But yeah, uncanny resemblance.
Check out how much the Ford Fusion looks like the STS...

Ahhh, I hate to tell you this Croc, but the Freestyle is actually quite a bit bigger than the SRX — 5" longer and 2" wider in fact.

This rear pic actually reminds me of Holden/Opel...

quite a bit, yeah i can see that too

this car is so similar to the SRX it's unbeleiveable GM doesn't sure Ford for stealing design cues. They really are taking the vertical headlights theme over there and ripping it shreds. unimaginative Ford designers...
Oh, get off yourselves people. No one is copying Cadillac, it just happens that both brands (mainly Cadillac/Mercury) are going after a very similar ultra-contemporary, sharp-edged look--but they're in different ends of the market and none step on the others toes one bit.

This would be the same stupid argument as saying "Well that new Hyundai Sonata looks a lot like the Accord--Honda should sue". In a marketplace, there's bound to be similarities, sometimes a lot of them, between products (every car made has to have wheels, for example http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/AH-HA_wink.gif ), and this falls into that category.
