May 6, 200718 yr You guys have no doubt heard me talk about my friend "Duffy" he's the one who moved out to AZ almost 5 years ago. Hes one of my closest and best friends, we met in college 8 years ago. I ment him when I found out that he was doing a wicked awsome senior project. It was THE longest (280 pages) senior project in the history of the Business Department of our college. The topic? "A Business Case for a 5th Gen. F-Body from GM" So that's how me and Duffy met. After years of driving his 1991 Pontiac GTA, it was a steel roof hunter green TPi350/700R4 powered car with a tan interior, he sold it and now drives (as his only car) a 1961 Rambler American in pea-soup green. He bought it for a decent chunk of change with 17,000 miles on it and has been driving it to work 40 miles one way through the Arizona desert. Anyway, I miss Duffy, he was the one who originally got me into B-59s before I joined this forum and befriended Balthazar. So I have not seen Duffy since May of 2005. It was the weekend I bought the original and now when I called him up the other day to tell him my love-affair with my Datsun Girlfriend twins is over he says he'll be in MA/CT for his bro's graduation. So tomorrow I'm driving the '59 LeSabre on the exact same route that I took on the very first trip I ever took in my original Datsun Maxi-Pad. Sooooo... anyway I'm looking forward to hanging out with one of my best friends who also happens to have high-octane-gasoline flowing through this veins.
May 7, 200718 yr Author We're meeting at a friends' house in E. Taunton, MA. So yeah... one month and 2000 miles later this will the the B-59s first real ROADTRIP of since I drove it home in a Blizzard the night I bought it. Weather's beautiful, wish me luck.
May 7, 200718 yr Sounds like a blast. I just met up with a friend last week that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We went out to supper and picked up right where we left off. It really is amazing to me that I can have people in my life that I can not see for that long and not hear from except for the occasional drunk dial here or there and then when we finally do get together we can have as much fun as we do, like we see each other all the time.
May 8, 200718 yr Author SO at 5:00pm today I'm on Rt.495 doing about 75mph in the B-59. It had been 2035 miles since I bought the car and so far it was behaving beautifully. I'm just before the Rt. 20 exits when I notice that my power steering has stopped working.... I'm having to put out just a TINY bit of effort with my two fingers to keep the car between the dashed lines. About 45 seconds later I'm still contemplating where to pull over, I'm not sure I have PS fluid in my emergency box. All of a sudden a big gush of red liquid comes flying out of my hood/fender seam & it makes the windsield into less of a window & more of a Piccaso painting. I pull over at the Rt.20 exit and open the hood.... sure enough both my accessory belts are off. Lucky for me only the one that runs off the PS pump/HB/H20 pump is torn up, the other one, which runs the H20 pump & Generator off the HB is intact. $7.99 for a jug of coolant, a juice box for Sofia to keep her busy and I get to work. I have no power steering but I still got down to the see Duffy and all my other friends. Rouind trip it's about 160 miles so I think considering that it was MY fault to begin with for not changing the belts IMMEDIATELY after buying the car I can't complain. XP715 already hooked me up with a discount on a new set of belts. They'll go in tomorrow morning. Duffy is coming up here to visit ME tomorrow & I promissed him he could take the B-59 for a spin.

That musta been quite a sight! Glad you had a good time...so when do I get to take it for a spin?
May 9, 200718 yr Author Although I do not usually let ayone drive my classics, Ross & Duffy have driven more than their fair share of 1950s & 1960s classics. But you can certainly take the Banana Yacht for a spirited drive!
