May 7, 200718 yr New spy shots have captured a heavily camouflaged Opel Vectra out testing in Europe. The car is expected to makes its international debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September. The new Vectra rides on GM's new Epsilon II platform which is wider and taller than the current Epsilon allowing for more room for the passengers as well as better handling courtesy of the wider track. May 8, 200718 yr Isn't she purdy? The grille looks very Toyotaish! You just said purdy and Toyota in the same sentence It looks kind of short to me for the North American midsize segment, I hope it's space-efficient enough to compete. The A-pillar back in the artist's drawing looks quite a bit like an Infiniti to me.
May 8, 200718 yr I hope that Bangle butt is fake bodywork, otherwise it looks horrendous. Removing that big trunk piece, the rear reminds of the G6 coupe. BTW, is it still called a Vectra?
May 8, 200718 yr Isn't she purdy? The grille looks very Toyotaish! You just said purdy and Toyota in the same sentence Doesn't that equal ?
May 12, 200718 yr Apparently not, but there are two other possibilities.Rekord? Or maybe Ascona, so they'll have to change the car's name in Portugal again Edited May 12, 200718 yr by ZL-1
May 13, 200718 yr Now there are more photos without the cladding hiding the shape it reminds me of the Grand Prix.
May 13, 200718 yr Now there are more photos without the cladding hiding the shape it reminds me of the Grand Prix. Yeah it does, which is why I think it's purdy! Now if only GM would put a Pontiac logo on it and call it a Grand Prix.
May 13, 200718 yr it ends in -aAura?All names I'd like to see end in -a: Vectra/Insignia/Aura/Omega: it seems Opel has a '-a' fetish...
May 13, 200718 yr passenger vehicles (generally—the signum is an exception) end in -a and (agil-a, cors-a, astr-a, meriv-a, zafir-a, vectr-a, omeg-a, antar-a), commercial vehicles end in -o (comb-o, movan-o, vivar-o).
May 13, 200718 yr Because for a majority of Europe things that end in A are feminine, hence a car is female, and things that end in O are masculine, hence a truck is male. At least that's my take on it.
May 13, 200718 yr well, not everywhere. You get tripped up in some places with men's names that end in -a that everywhere else are women's names.
May 14, 200718 yr Or, when you learn something like Swedish, you find out that apart from names, male/female distinction is almost non-existant. In Portuguese, however, even objects are male of female: a cadeira (female), and o avião (male).
May 14, 200718 yr You do realize that there will be a REVAMP on the AURA bodystyle that will look identical to this in a few years... The shared grille/chrome bar doesn't look Toyotaish it looks Saturnish. By 2011, maybe earlier, Saturn will be almost completely on Shared platforms with OPEL... REBADGE THIS!
May 15, 200718 yr I particularly like the remote driving feature. Take a look at the artist's rendering. There is no driver, and that thing is tearing down the road. Nice car, BTW.
May 15, 200718 yr I don't liek the bangle butt...it looks horrible from the back...hopefully that's just camo. The rest of it looks good though.
