May 10, 200718 yr Ford today bowed to the inevitable by withdrawing its luxury twins, the Fairlane and LTD sedans, from production in response to falling sales. The last Fairlane/LTD will be built either late in 2007 or early 2008, ahead of the arrival of the heavily-revised Falon - codenamed Orion - around March 2008. May 10, 200718 yr Seriously it leaves the Statesmen/Caprice as the only vehicles in this market segment (although the 6-cyl Ssangyong Chairman comes close). It should embarrass Ford that the smaller Chrysler 300 sold better than the Fairlane/LTD in recent months. Of course as things are going Ford will have to close and with not enough work for local suppliers Holden and Toyota will have have to source more parts overseas.

May 11, 200718 yr It is sad, but Ford is not well right now. If Ford was smart, they would have shared development like GM does globally. They could have put: Grand Marquis Crown Victoria Town Car Fairlane/LTD on the same platform. Holden was smart to reposition Holden Caprice and Statesman too. GM is getting a return on the global investment. May they will... That is still sad though..
