May 12, 200718 yr I noticed something curious about new Chryco vehicles. When the turn signal is on the daytime running light turns off on that particular side. When I first saw this, I thought their headlight was burnt out. Now I see this on them all. Does anyone know why they did this? It looks so odd.
May 12, 200718 yr oops software bug? Unless the same light bulb is used for turning and for daytime. Edited May 12, 200718 yr by JT64

Chrysler's been doing this for years.
May 12, 200718 yr Interesting...never noticed Chrysler products with DRLs...a Canada thing? Speaking of DRLs, one thing I've noticed about late model Chevy Silverados/Tahoes/Suburbans with DRLs is that usually only one side is on, the right or the left, not both...
May 12, 200718 yr It's probably so you notice the turn signal better. Lights aren't as easy to notice in the daytime, and you probably can't see the turn signal as well with the DRL's on. Just a though.
May 13, 200718 yr I saw a new mercedes parke at the curb last month, unattended, and both driver-side 'parking' lights only were on, front & rear.
May 13, 200718 yr Mercedes has had that driver side parking light setting for years. I think it's a good idea. There have been service bulletins for the truck's DRLs.

With our BMW, if you move the indicator stalk after the car is switched off, the corresponding parking light stays on. I guess it's a piece-of-mind thing to have when parked on the side of a dark, narrow, unlit road.
May 13, 200718 yr I didn't even realize Chrysler products had DRL's! They do, mine has them...and they stay on when the turn signals are on.
