This reminds me of the video we watched in driver's ed about the dangers of semi trucks....really boring, drawn out, and old (the kids in the movie had mullets if that says anything). I think 3/4 of the driver's ed class slept through that one.

We saw something similar to that in my DE class ... very boring and drawn out.

You'd think they'd produce something with a bit more energy to capture attentions....

Yeah, I briefly remember our text book said something like "With the growing popularity of power steering, you do not have to continually correct the wheel like seen in TV and movies"...okaaaay. It was 1999 at that time I took driver's ed. I remember a picture of a kid in there with feathered hair, so it was probably another 80s relic that the high school saved a few bucks by reusing for two decades.

Oh yeah, and our driver's ed car was a Plymouth Breeze with burlap cloth seats and a missing wheel cover.

Our driver's ed cars were contemporary Buicks. This was circa 2002-03, so we had LeSabre Customs, Century Limiteds, a Rendezvous, and this...

...a Regal LS Olympic Edition, which was my favorite.

The year after I graduated, the dealership donating the cars stopped (and later folded completely). Now, they use base Sentras from some leasing company. Yuck.

hmm.. i don't remember much, But I took my road test in a 74 Toronado with a 455. Then Bought a 69 satellite for $100 then a 69 mach 1 for 350. Then 2 years later i added a 73 Monte Carlo to the collection.

God I wish I lived back then again I would do so many different things, but the past is a lonely place to live.

I had a 2005 Impala for 9 of the 10 classes, and a 2006 Cobalt Sedan for the class on driving a stick. Let me just point out that having an observer in the manual class was embarrassing to the extreme at the beginning. I was all like, JERK, STOP, JERK, STOP, REV THE ENGINE TO 6000 RPM, JERK, STOP. LOL, after about 20 minutes you get the hang of it

They must go through clutches like crazy, but they can afford it, it's not like Driver's Ed is cheap or anything.

Actually, it was a pretty terrible car. It had that tiny V8 they were putting in them back then and those "pillowtop" seats in a medium green velour. It was brand new so it was OK, but not by much.

I was thinking more along the lines of the RWDness of it ... I drove FWD cars for DE and the road test.

I did so well in my class, I didn't have to go down to the DMV ... I was able to finalize everything at the HS . Otherwise, I probably would've had to use my parents' '82 Chevette. Course, that was, at least, RWD, too .

I thought this was a driver's ed video, not some acid trip!!

One thing that I remember about drivers ed were all the videos depicting high school swimmer as DUI drivers. We watched like 4 movies with the theme of high school swimmers getting drunk and killing people.

I drove around in this 2dr hundyi accent hatchback it scared the $h! out of me how small it was.

I did my driver's ed class in a brown '84 Celebrity and a maroon '82 Delta 88 (my school had a couple DE cars). I took my test in my dad's '84 Escort Diesel which I drove my junior year in HS until I got my '87 Mustang GT.

IIRC, my sister took driver's ed in a mid '70s Maverick. She took her driver's test in my dad's '69 Mustang Mach 1, then got her first car--a '76 Pinto. I believe my brother took his driver's test in my dad's '66 Galaxie then got a '66 Mustang GT convertible for his first car...
