May 22, 200718 yr a guy came to look at the saturn today...$3000 cash. My parents have to make a decision...I was thinking to tell him $3200 take it or leave it. Dumb Scratches...everyone who's been intrested made a big deal about them. The guy said it was for his mother in-law. He had an 04-05 Trailblazer. What do you guys think?
May 23, 200718 yr Author Well, we called him and said the lowest we could go was $3300...No sale. O well, we've been getting calls every couple days so I'm not worried.
May 23, 200718 yr Author actually it was $700 that he tried to cut off the price. He claims that it needs new tires...well even if it does, which it really doesnt, what would that cost $300 at the max? They are only 14". so if he got it for $3300, that $300 off for the tires and an extra hundred for fun.
May 23, 200718 yr It looks like the right thing to do... Gas prices are up..and expected to go higher( at least 30 cents in the next few weeks) I get the feeling if the car holds out a few more weeks..you'd get the asking price for it...maybe more... Just in my area: 89 Sunbird 151k, $1900 91 Escort 105k, $2500 And these are cars you could normally pick up for like 500 bucks...
May 23, 200718 yr Speaking of... Some kid is interesting in my Grand Am. Turns out he has one like it with a good engine, but an R-title body. His good engine with my good body would become one. I'm just wondering what to ask for it... $300 is probably the lowest I would go, but $500 was obviously too much when I tried to sell it previously. $400 might work.

In 2000, my 1998 S-10 cost $7200 used with 27,000 miles. Just last week I found a 1998 Sonoma with the same equipment, save for an automatic transmission, for $8200 used with 58,000 miles. I also found a '96 with 140,000 miles for $4500. So yeah. You do the math (or whatever).

May 23, 200718 yr According to a post found elsewhere: An R-Title is a "Rebuilt" title. It means the vehicle was totaled before.

May 23, 200718 yr I've been buying & selling cars for a while now... the best way to sum it up is "CASH talks & Bull$h! WALKS". Two weeks ago XP and I went half/half on a 1996 Volvo 850 that was beat to f@#k, leaking more oil than the Exxon Valdez and had 170,000+ college girl miles on it. He cleaned out the car which resulted in three hefty bags of garbage and I took the photos of the car. We were going to split the selling price of the car once we flipped it to some yuppie for a considerable profit. But then when XP bought my Banana Boat off me I bought out his half of the Volvo. I listed the Volvo for $995 on craigslist with an honest descrption, I ended up having a few poeple give me a hard time about the car's dents, paint & the nasty, greasy oil leak residue... One guy who I told $700 for a bottom line backed out yesterday and in the end I sold it today for $450 to a Portugese guy who low balled me BUT did have cash in hand. To be honest with you if I had looked at your car I probably would have offered you even less.... I do not pay anything close to "market value" for a car, which is why I usually MAKE money when I sell a car not LOOSE it. You might have to deal with a few people like this. There's always a better deal around anotehr corner. I talked to a guy yesterday who bought a GORGEOUS 1970s Mercedes 300D form $100. You will have to be patient if you want to get top dollar for your car. I probably would have offered you $2300 for your car because I'd be buying it to clean it up and flip it for somewhere between $2700 - $3100. Just some food for thought.

You could probably get wheels and tires for a Saturn for $300. The 'needs new tires' gig is fun to pull at a used car lot, but I don't know what people expect from private sellers. This is why I'll likely keep my cars until they completely die, then drag it into a dealership as a trade-in. I'd hate dealing with people like that who want to low-ball and play games. It just brings to light the lamest mentality of American people - cheapness. If anyone's ever hosted a garage sale, you know exactly what I'm talking about. People trying to bargain a $1.00 item down to $.50 and walking off when you refuse like they just cost you some big commission. As said in the other thread, you're asking a fair price. People are asking the same amount for older SLs or ones with 100k+ miles.
May 24, 200718 yr Author Well we got 2 more calls today. A woman is coming to look at it tomarrow @ 6 pm. I just keep posting it on craigslist and the calls keep rolling in.
