Odd Corvette Trivia

1. What was the first year the Corvette was officially exported by Chevrolet to Saudi Arabia?

2. What year was the first for an official trailer towing package for the Corvette?

3. Three times Chevrolet set up a paint color/code and only painted 1 Corvette that color all year. When were these three cars produced?

4. What unique feature would you experience if you actually drove the Corvette from the movie "Corvette Summer?"

5. Another feature from 1962 came back on the c-5 corvette rather than the C-6 Corvette. What is it?

Answers for fun. Maayble I'll get one right. :P

1. 1974, to appease OPEC.

2. 1982, as Roger Smith considered a way to get more people to buy the Corvette, without - you know - giving people what they WANT.

3. One in 1955, one in 1967, and one in 2003.

4. It massages your balls as you rev the engine. Wait, I think I know this one... It was a right hand drive model.

5. Horsepower. :P I'd say split rear window, but I've never seen a C5 with one of those.

5. Another feature from 1962 came back on the c-5 corvette rather than the C-6 Corvette. What is it?

The "waterfall" of body-colored panel between the seats.

In addition to the "waterfall" some convertilbes I believe had an opening trunk, did they not?

1987 was the first year of export to Saudi Arabia.

1977 was I believe the first year for a trailer package.

Let's see if anyone can get the color question. Yes, the car from the movie was right hand drive.

BTW, 1955 was a year of a couple of very rare colors-Black and supposedly copper cars were built, but they built more than one of each color each year.

I got Corvette trivia, let's see if we get a unanimous answer....

LOL

Simple- How many 1969 Corvettes were made with the ZL-1 option?

Two?

Three?

:D

Was the red car a ZL-1 or an L88 car?

GO!!!!!!!

I recall there were only (2) ZL-1 Corvettes.

I recall there were only (2) ZL-1 Corvettes.

Hmmmm....

:scratchchin:

Maybe, just MAYBE I might have a different answer!

I know there was a red car that ran at a track that was an L88 car, many people mistook it for a ZL-1.

But....

Kevin Suydam- Oct 68 white car

Roger Judski- Sept 69 yellow car (blown engine car)

John Maher- Dec 68 orange car

:scratchchin:

Any ZL-1 experts gonna chime in?

It's commonly accepted 2 Corvettes and 69 Camaros. Is it.....

THREE??

The ZL-1 Corvette had an all aluminum 427c.i. engine and only two were ever built in model-year 1969. Here's a link to the ZL-1 Corvettes' story, referring to a rumour about a third ZL-1 car.

That's a link to the red car, which I am fairly positive was an L88 car. I've seen quite a bit on it over the years, although I *might* be wrong some pretty knowledgeable guys over the years have said it was a test mule, but not a ZL-1 car.

The orange car of Maher seems to be a ZL-1, but it's rarely mentioned.

I'm guessing Maher's car is the "non-accepted" car?

1. What was the first year the Corvette was officially exported by Chevrolet to Saudi Arabia?

1997?

2. What year was the first for an official trailer towing package for the Corvette?

1970

3. Three times Chevrolet set up a paint color/code and only painted 1 Corvette that color all year. When were these three cars produced?

1977/8/9 Mary Kay pink? :P

4. What unique feature would you experience if you actually drove the Corvette from the movie "Corvette Summer?"

Square (fixed) sealed quad headlights on a 3rd gen car...?

27lbs. of bondo in the hood and rear?

5. Another feature from 1962 came back on the c-5 corvette rather than the C-6 Corvette. What is it?

Twin Hood bulges?

My above answer is not serious but I can say without a doubt that TWO

Corvette ZL1s were built. One yellow, one white. Both were 1969s and

no others exist(ed). The yellow one has a fascinatin history including

ownership to a drug lord in Florida who lost it to a police auction where

it was KNOWN to be priceless and put up with an opening bid of $100K,

so much for the bull$h! of "$50 buys you a 911 Turbo! at governement

auctions if you call this number..."

The white car belonged to a guy who drag raced it & daily drove it for a

few years, it was also owned by Ottis Chandler for a while, as

documented in one of my favorite books: "American Muscle Car"

The white one is now owned by Kevin Suydam, it was originally bought by Jack Cheskaty. It's the "undocumented" car, as it is called in the ZL-1 circles... it's the "6753" car with a Oct 68 build date.

The yellow one blew the original engine very soon after purchase, the engine wound up in a drag boat. It's the "29219" car build date Sept 1969. Documented, but not 100% all original. It's the George Heberling company car...

The RED car was an L88 car, the car commonly mistaken for a 3rd ZL-1. It was at a track with one of the above cars when they were new, but is commonly accepted as an L88 car mistaken for a ZL-1.

It's the ORANGE car that leaves me wondering.

Owned by John Maher, it's the "10209" car. Orange automatic convertible with a Dec 68 build date. It's purported to be a DOCUMENTED ZL-1 car too.

Many argue over the white car owned by Suydam, some feel it's an "upgraded" L88 car. Most think the white and yellow cars are the only two ZL-1 Corvettes that ever existed.

John Maher's car leaves me wondering.

I've got a few questions about Corvettes just for giggles.

How many 1983 Corvettes were built (I know none for the public, but there were some built)?

How many 1983 Corvettes are known to survive and where are they?

How many 1962 (I think) Corvettes were painted in Cadillac Amherst Pink (I may have the color off, but its a metallic pink Cadillac color)?

How many are known to survive and their known locations?

What engine powered Zora Arkus Duntov's personal Corvette

What year did Corvette first go to test in Germany?

What are/were the assembly plants for Corvette's throughout the years?

What year did Chevrolet build the 1,000,000th Corvette?

Where is that 1,000,000th Corvette currently located?

Ok here are some answers to my favorite car.

1. The number of Corvettes produced in 1983 are said to be between 43-47.

2. Only one survives at of course the Corvette Museum.

3. The pink corvette is a 1964 model.

4. Just one exists and was said to be owned by the wife of a Chevy Executive.

5. 1974 Sting Ray

6. I am not sure but the first corvette tested in Germany was the C-5R in 1999-2000.

7. St. Louis 1953-1981, Bowling Green 1981-till date.

8. One millionth corvette was produced on 2nd June 1992. A white convertible with black top.

9. It is located in the National Corvette Museum

7. St. Louis 1953-1981, Bowling Green 1981-till date.

I'm pretty sure that the 1953 model was produced in Flint, Michigan. Production moved to St. Louis for the 1954 model year.

You are I believe correct sir.

Chris

Chris, you're more or less right. The question about the pink vette, it actually resides in the National Corvette Museum. Zora Duntov's personal 1974 Corvette was powered by a 454. 2000 was the first year that Corvette went to Germany. And finally, for the 1953 model year Corvettes were hand built in Flint, MI. Production was then moved to St. Louis until June 1, 1981 when full production ramped up at Bowling Green.
