May 29, 200718 yr Hi there. I have a problem with my 93 Astro. It is mechanically sound, but will shut down for no reason we've yet been able to determine. Some days it will run all day without any problems, some days it will run for 20 minutes and then ... nothing. There aren't any unusual noises associated with it, it just stops and refuses to start. The mechanics who have so far looked at the problem have thought that it might be any of the following: crank sensor, fuel pump, fuel sender relay, or the computer. If anyone has any ideas, has had this problem, or can direct me to a resource that will better be able to assist me with it, I'd appreciate it a whole lot. The vehicle is used for work purposes and just can't be off the road any longer. Thanks!!!
May 29, 200718 yr We had this problem with our old Dodge Spirit..it was the fuel pump. It may be your culprit.
May 31, 200718 yr When is the last time you changed the fuel filter? Also welcome to C&G! Yeah-what he said! :AH-HA_wink:
June 7, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions. Turns out that the van happened to shut itself down in front of the right person this weekend. The problem was a faulty ignition module. No spark, no gas, no run. Thanks again.
June 9, 200718 yr I see so many old Astros and Safaris still on the road. They were so ideal for so many uses. A good product that GM let go to seed. I'd love to see an updated version available. Shouldn't a thread like this be in the "Tech" section?
