I am being given a 1969 GMC pickup truck and I don't know much about the old GM trucks. All I know is it has an inline 6 engine, auto tranny, and 2-wheel drive.

I'm sorry, what I would like to know is what kind of power and torque figures this engine made in it's day. Also, the carburator is allegidly bad. I was going to rebuild it but the local parts place can't get a kit for it. Does anybody know what kind of carburator comes stock on it and if anyone still makes a rebuild kit for it? Thanks for any help.

It could be a 230 or a 250 cubic inch engine, not a lot of power but it will move a half ton around ok. As far as the carb goes try a restoration supply co. like Kanter, they probably have the kit you need. My guess would be that it has a single barrel Rochester carb, and that the float and/or the accelerator pump is bad.

The pick-ups (C1500, C2500, C3500-Series) used the 250 as the base 6.

8.5:1 compression, 155 HP, Carter 1-bbl model 3891593.

That said, in the past 38 years, either the carb or the engine could've been changed.

Check NAPA for carb rebuild kits, e-Baymotors after that. Should be readily available- I sold a period NOS Rochester 2bbl carb last year on e-Bay.
