ATLANTA - Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia entry to mention his wife’s death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son.

Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife’s death.

A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based.

I read that too on yahoo news. It's very creepy indeed and makes you wonder. I wish him and his family would've had a respectable death...not the murder suicide that seems to have been the case......according to the media.

That is soo insane! I actually met him at a wrestling match I went to watch. That is just soo crazy that he could do that.

This'll probably turn out to be one of the wrestlers he sent "curious text messages" to.

Yes, it is possible I think. I've seen time stamps on Uncyclopedia ... it's just a typed in date in a tag. I image it's the same for Wiki.

That would make a lot of sense, except that Benoit was nowhere near the apparent location of the IP address at the time the entry was changed. He was at his home in Georgia.

See, that's what I would have said too, but seeing as he was not anywhere near that IP address, it makes it a bit harder. I doubt he used IP editing software, and even if he did, his 'new' IP would likely be from another country, like Korea or China.

So it's either some sicko who can edit time stamps, or there's someone else out there who was privy to what he would be doing.

The location of the IP address does not mean that's where the computer was. It just means that it was registered to the WWE.
