No, you did good. Who are we trying to kid...French is a beautiful language.

I had a blast both learning and teaching French. My heart still lies with Italian... if I could teach solely that, that's all it'd be. Unfortunately, I foresee myself teaching Spanish one day. The idea is to get me certified in that and then supplement my Italian with Spanish classes, giving me a full schedule in one building should I not have one.

Out of all the languages I know I still prefer Latin, it's precise and concrete. I would love for someday for the European Union to use Giuseppe Peano's (August 27, 1858 – April 20, 1932) idea to use a new language called Interlingua.

The idea was to use Latin vocabulary, since this was widely known, but simplify the grammar as much as possible and remove all irregular and anomalous forms to make it easier to learn. In a brilliant speech, he started speaking in Latin and, as he described each simplification, introduced it into his speech so that by the end he was speaking in his new language.

I would love to see the European Union adopt this Interlingua language as the official and common language of the European Union and therefore bring all the major races of Europe (Romantic, Germanic, Celtic and Slavic) under a common tongue and start to form a common identity and culture for all Europeans.

Fine by me. In today's world of globalization, the fewer languages, the better.

Give it time, though. I bet it'll happen by accident after a few generations of people communicate with today's technology.

The UK will never let it happen...

Esperanto is a created language intended to be easy to learn for all speakers of European languages. It also has ONE pronunciation for each letter, so you always know how to pronounce something based on how it is written. It has actually been partly accepted, with about a million speakers, and about a thousand native speakers (where it is their first language). I'd like to see this take off.

I know about Esperanto, but I am not too keen on it and it is not the same thing as I suggested as the EU has already rejected it, which they haven't done with what I suggested yet.

Sigh.

My 3rd quiz in this summer class. First one was a 96. Second a 91. This one an 85. Do you know where I lost points IN EVERY SINGLE QUIZ? Writing Italian. I lost... FIFTEEN POINTS for writing in Italian. And I keep scanning the tests to make sure I didn't put any Italian in.
