July 28, 200718 yr Thius isn't a trivia question per say, more like a request for information. I attended a local car show today and saw this 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria on display: After taking the picture, I saw this emblem on the front fender: I was surprised to see the word "Thunderbird" on the emblem. Since I'm not up on my classic Ford knowledge, what exactly does this badge represent???
July 28, 200718 yr It has an optional high performance engine that was also used in the Thunderbird. See the little "V8" on the emblem?
July 29, 200718 yr I haven't seen one personally, but I'd guess that's a Canadian version... Meteor maybe?
July 29, 200718 yr I haven't seen one personally, but I'd guess that's a Canadian version... Meteor maybe? Yup! Meteor Rideau. Not a well known car it seems, even in Ford circles!
July 29, 200718 yr Thunderbird V-8 in Fords for '56 was the 200/292, as opposed to the standard Ford V-8, the 173/272. Thunderbird Special V-8 was a T-bird option, the 215/312.
July 29, 200718 yr Was the 200/292 Thunderbird V8, optional in the standard cars, also used in the Thunderbird?
August 1, 200718 yr Author Thank you for the responses and information. As always, the knowledge around here never ceases to amaze me!!! Thanks for the education.
September 12, 200718 yr My best friends Dad owned a '56 just like it. It's the car I learned to drive with a stick shift (3 on a tree).
September 12, 200718 yr That's a nice looking hardtop... not my cup of tea but it's notce for a Ford.
