August 20, 200718 yr http://www.worldcarfans.com/6070820.003/vw...d-in-clear-view 7.0/10 A Poor Man's CLS, simple as that. Looks pretty sleek, ahs potential.
August 20, 200718 yr "4-door coupe". The explanation that makes about as much sense as "one-piece bikini".
August 20, 200718 yr Looks French. I like it. You can't say it looks like a Camry, Accord, Altima, etc. Edited August 20, 200718 yr by empowah
August 20, 200718 yr Welcome to Overhang City. Population - You. P.S. Its not a 4-door coupe; its a sedan. Period. This nomenclature B.S. is growing beyond ridiculous. Know what? By this logic, my Olds is also a 4-door coupe and beats them all by a decade at least.
August 20, 200718 yr Uhm, why does VW feel that it needs another model when it's having trouble selling what it's already got? It looks ugly, too. Edited August 20, 200718 yr by DetroitNut90
August 20, 200718 yr Why not just make this car instead of selling the boring one and this sexier, yet somewhat ugly one side-by-side?
August 20, 200718 yr this is a 4 door coupe That thing has 4 full doors and doesn't even look like a coupe. It's a sedan.
August 20, 200718 yr And this isn't the next-generation Passat because why? If they badge this as a Passat, VW must be run by a few of the most incompetent jackasses in the industry, just under the folks in charge at Chrysler Corp. Shame. Anyway, it looks a lot like someone stretched out a next-generation Aura, especially with the greenhouse and beltline crease from any rear 3/4 view. Edited August 20, 200718 yr by YellowJacket894
August 21, 200718 yr In this growing hoopla of four door coupes wonder the last Intrepid would be a four door coupe. At least it can be considering the rear 3/4 greenhouse of the VW looks like it is take from the Dodge intrepid.
August 21, 200718 yr Sleek, but just another FWD sedan... the greenhouse reminds me of the Intrepid crossed with the Peugeot 607.
August 21, 200718 yr Wow, that's not even close to begin CLS-like, besides not having much rear leg or head room. I think four door coupes are dumb, personally. If there's not much back seat room anyways, what's the point? A 2-door coupe looks better, so why not buy that? Sure, ingress/egress is easier in the "four-door coupe" but the rear doors are still tiny (at least on the CLS) so there isn't that much room anyways. Plus, it's not that much of a hassle if you have power front seats, anyways.

August 21, 200718 yr I agree about the 4 door coupe crap. Obviously the CLS is better looking and more aggressive than a lot of other cars, but what makes it a 'coupe'? Especially this VW. How is that any different than a 2000 Taurus or my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix?
August 21, 200718 yr I agree about the 4 door coupe crap. Obviously the CLS is better looking and more aggressive than a lot of other cars, but what makes it a 'coupe'? Especially this VW. How is that any different than a 2000 Taurus or my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix? The 'coupe' aspect is the ultra sleek roofline, frameless side glass, 'close coupled' aspect of the greenhouse.. Coupes are usually 2drs, but 2drs aren't necessarily implied by the term. Just as sedans can be 2drs or 4drs. One definition of coupe as found on the internet: A coupé (French word from the verb couper to cut) or coupe is a car body style with a close-coupled interior offering either two seats or 2+2 seating (space for two passengers up front and for two occasional passengers in the rear). Through the 1950s convertible models were sometimes called convertible coupés, but since the 1960s the term coupé has generally been applied exclusively to fixed-roof models. Coupés generally, but not necessarily, have two doors, although automobile makers have offered four-door coupés and three- and five-door hatchback coupés, as well. Modern coupés generally have the styling feature of frameless doors, with the window glass sealing directly against a weather-strip on the main body.
August 21, 200718 yr looks like my oval taurus sho mated with the mercedes cls or a citroen or peuguot Edited August 21, 200718 yr by regfootball
August 21, 200718 yr No thanks VW. Not only is the nomenclature getting annoying, but this thing looks sorta ugly so far with the camo on, and if the current Sebring was anything to judge by with its camo on, this is as good as it gets. It's sad that for a foreign brand that has been in the U.S. for so long and seems to try so hard but still doesn't get it after all these years. It's attempt to march upmarket certainly didn't help their what with the magnificent but completely wrong Phaeton and a Passat that can be optioned up to $40 grand. I'll take an Audi for that, thank you very much. Remember VW- You are the People's Car. Do that or go home.
August 21, 200718 yr "4-door coupe". The explanation that makes about as much sense as "one-piece bikini". Quoted for emphasis. Excellent annalogy! Next person to call a car with four doors a coupe gets shot in the face with a 12-gauge.

From the spyshots at least, it looks flabby and ungainly. It's trying to be a CLS but the proportions look way off.
