August 23, 200718 yr Took the Venture on a road trip down to Washington State and would you believe it, after 50K Km, everything is going awry. In six days, the ABS, T/C have failed, the Tranny has started slipping and hesitating, and the starter is acting wonky... on top of that we lost three of those plastic wheel nut covers because, as it turns out, the lug nuts weren't tightened properly at the last tire rotation, last week. Making an appt at the dealer this week now that I'm back in Canukistan, but I don't know how extensive this repair is gonna be. We're getting to the point over here where we have had almost enough with the service dept. at the dealer where we buy our cars... it's just like one blunder after another with these guys. The retractors for the sunshade in the MAXX went for the big one in mid July, we were told that the part had to be ordered, it would take 1.5 weeks, and that we'd be notified the second it arrives... A month goes by and no word. When the van goes in for a tire rotation last week, it was discovered that the part had been sitting there since 5 DAYS after it was ordered and we were NEVER NOTIFIED. Took the car in last week only to find out that they ordered the wrong part for a front SUNROOF MOTOR even though our car OBVIOUSLY isn't equipped with one. The correct part is overnighted from Edmonton and the repair is done the next day (it took 3 hours).

August 23, 200718 yr Is your ABS light coming on and staying on? Ours was doing that for a while until dad finally caved in and took it to the shop we use. It turned out that the right front hub assembly went bad and had to be replaced. The ABS light's been off ever since, and all problems associated with it (ABS and AWD disable lights coming on, horrendous road noise, vibrating brake pedal, degraded ride quality) have vanished. Well the light T/C and ABS lights are coming on and staying on, but they sometimes go off for ~15 sec. so essentially useless. Now when it's started, it turns over 3x instead of 1x before it starts. (Alternator?)
August 23, 200718 yr there's a lot of "could be's" on this one. Main thing to do is have the alternator pulled, bench test it separate from the rest of the system. Then test the battery separate. After that, I would say that you've probably got a bad wheel speed sensor/hub assembly, the passenger right hand side one in the Impala is bad, keeping the ABS and Trac Off lights on constantly, its not a vehicle stopping nusiance, its just irritating.
September 17, 200718 yr Author As it turns out, it was the wheel speed sensor, '76 called it. It got cracked somehow, and during the rainstorm in Spokane, water got in and fried it.
