Wasted money, time, and engineering.

They would have been better just offering "D" and "L" like Ford is doing on the Edge.....(as much as I hate that.)

NO!

I once had a Montego rental (5,6A?) with "D" and "L," and I hated it! It was also slow to downshift, but dropping it down to "L" was usually a lower gear then I wanted.

I like the +/- button on the Enclave because...

  • I can shift up through the gears AS I PLEASE
  • I can downshift, to the gear I WANT, WHEN I PLEASE
  • If I don't feel like doing the above, then I can force the 6A to act like a 3,4,5A by just leaving the indicator in 3,4,5... point being that, I know it's stupid for a 6A to upshift through all the gears when I'm driving slow to moderate speeds. So much like the 6M in my SS, I can choose the highest gear for a particular application!
