I was reading a friend's August 2007 C&D that had the comparo of a Mustang Convertible, new Sebring Convertible, and G6 GT Convertible. The G6 won the comparison. I was surprised since there were lots of back handed compliments coming from the writer about the cheapness of all 3 vehicles. Here's the way they all finished up:

3. Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible

2. Ford Mustang Pony Convertible

1. Pontiac G6 GT Convertible.

I read this and was very pleased with the outcome, to loosely quote the end of the article it said somthing like "from across the parking lot, the G6 is the one you wanted to walk to.." makes me happy anytme Pontiac can be in the number one spot.

It was like choosing which one sucks less...I forget the reason the Mustang came in #2 but I know cheap interior had to do with it. they actually liked the Sebring's interior and the materials quality...but with the 2.7L/4-speed it was a slug, and teh softly sprung suspension didn't help. the G6 was faster but took a lot of hits for it's cheapo interior...I think the verdict was "GM cheaps out on everything but the price" or something like that.

If the Sebring had the 3.5L/6-speed things would have been different.

I wonder how much of a hit the G6 would have been had GM got the interior right.

They did a similar test of older models (G6, Solara, Sebring) and again complained that the entire segment sucks, almost by definition, but of course, there has to be a winner.
