August 27, 200718 yr Just because you don't like the message or the messenger, that doesn't make the message wrong. From now on I'm not going to hint at what GM plans to do, I will be too busy in my new assignment anyway, which I will carry out in my usual German utmost efficiency, as always. From now on we can all just sit around the GM campfire and sing Kumbaya as the press releases come down from on high. Okay PCS, I understand that you can't just spit out stuff that GM hasn't officially announce yet. But, can you give us an approximate timeframe of when we should expect to start hearing "official" things from GM? That would be helpful for some.
August 27, 200718 yr The USA is the world's biggest single automotive market. To kill brands because they aren't sold outside this country is stupid, imo. Likewise, it would be disastrous to kill every GM brand outside the USA and replace them with Chevrolet and Cadillac. The pompous asses at Toyota have multiple brands in their home market and in other countries, for example. I am trying to understand the motivation behind such a dimbulb move.
August 27, 200718 yr I, for one, welcome the return of the Caballero nameplate. It sounds upscale and is certainly a better choice than Sprint, especially given its similarity to that dopey van.Agreed. Although I could see El Camino boosting up Chevy's identity with a unique car, the Caballero nameplate definitely sounds like it would fit a more upscale price point that it'll probably command.
August 27, 200718 yr I'm sorry, but every time I think of the name Cabellero, I remember a line from "Laugh In" that says, "Now there goes a gay Cabellero".
August 27, 200718 yr Author Well mark another dream off the list. This news has gone straight to $h! in a big hurry.
August 27, 200718 yr Ok Mr. Sensitive, I never said anything about not liking the messenger, so stop making this personal, its not. It's been my experience that those who hint at stuff like this without providing any proof are full of hot air. I'm ready for you to prove me wrong. Herr Lutz, backs der Börger (AKA: PCS) in Chevy El Camino vs GMC Caballero. I rest my case! Edited August 27, 200718 yr by Pontiac Custom-S
August 27, 200718 yr Author Well, I no longer know what my next new car will be. So I guess I should enjoy the hunt. Maybe a Challenger.
August 27, 200718 yr Camino, just hide and watch. We heard alot of different news about no Camaro, delayed Zeta cars, no rear wheel drive Pontiac sedan. All we can do is see what happens when something official is announced.

August 28, 200718 yr Well, Lutz obviously has a Holden fetish and thinks that Holdens are good enough for American muscle car fans. And, so far, he seems to be dumping these incredibly dull-styled Aussie things at PBG. So, a GMC Caballero seems more likely. Still, it's hard to see why anyone would want one. The volumes would have to be extra low - like 10K at most. Hell, nobody wants 2 door pickups anymore except real tradesmen. I think coming from Lutz, that's pretty darn official. Ahhh but hope springs eternal, that's nice to see.
