August 26, 200718 yr Yesterday we had a Cadillac customer who had an Infiniti I35 with the gold package and three-per side Autozone oval stick-on portholes. Should have taken a photo. I'll tell you what The Park Ave Ultra & HHR have in common... styling so damn cool, practical interior packaging, non-offensive front overhang and attractive skin that I MIGHT someday in the future overlook the WRONG-wheel drive and talk Julie into replacing her lame Taurus w/ one, although she considers the HHR gross stylistically. Still also looking for a diesel Mercedes, while thinkning about buying a gently-used Police Interceptor for a good mix of size/mpg/comfort.
August 26, 200718 yr good looking lesabre. i've seen them on a new dts, a very chrome trimed out alero, over the wheel on a grand prix, i think. it's a sad trend...
August 26, 200718 yr Maybe Buick should make a commercial about the origin of the Ventiports and say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
August 26, 200718 yr Wow... can you say blind. What did he take off the backing tape and throw them on???
August 26, 200718 yr Wow... can you say blind. What did he take off the backing tape and throw them on??? Funny thing is that they are lined up fine on the passenger side.
August 26, 200718 yr As most of you know 1959 was THE most radical fresh-start redesign for all the GM lineup... esp. Buick. Venti-ports or Portholes if you prefer went away only to return in 1960. To be honest I have thought of putting a set of four on each fender, but I would only do so temporarily and in such a way where they would either be stick on or decals. (vynil) What do you think? Balthazar is panning on "unorthodox" portholes but I do not want to let the cat out of the bag...

Get a set like what's on the Lucerne...I like the style of those a lot.

(vynil) What do you think? Here's what I think. LOL. YOU ASKED! :AH-HA_wink: I think stick on portholes rival plywood rear spoilers as terrible ideas to do to a vehicle.
August 26, 200718 yr CMG, what if the plywood spoiler is wrapped in duct tape? Mr. Fly, it actually took me a few seconds to even realize there was an HHR in that picture, blinded as I was by that awesome LeSabre convertible. I also like Mr. Snider's suggestion about a Buick commercial explaining origins of the portholes.
August 26, 200718 yr What's next? Some weirdo sticking Buick ventiports in an Aston Martin? Edited August 26, 200718 yr by ZL-1
August 27, 200718 yr What's next? Some weirdo sticking Buick ventiports in an Aston Martin? Well, there's an Audi A4 Avant running around with 4 ventiports on each fender and another 4 on the lower rear bumper...
August 27, 200718 yr Love that LeSabre convertible! As for the ports ... my goodness, I've been seeing them on just about every car ... it's getting a tad bit ridiculous, imho. I've even seen 'em on a new Dodge Charger...aye. Mr. Fly, it actually took me a few seconds to even realize there was an HHR in that picture, blinded as I was by that awesome LeSabre convertible. Who can go wrong with duct tape?! I didn't even see the HHR the first time I clicked on this thread. I looked at the photo and saw that Fly said ventiports... I'm thinking to myself "Wait, HHRs don't have ventiports...?". Haha. *smacks forhead* My own contribution:

August 27, 200718 yr Not that anyone's keeping track, but I am NOT putting VentiPorts on my B-59. I have considered stacking 4 vertically at the trailing edge of the front fender (I am partial to the '55s but the '56s would be more fitting to the '59 design), but I'm not going to do it. Too much of a focal point. Sixty8- don't forget that it was the B-58 that first jettisoned the VentiPorts... I, too, like the idea of a Buick VentiPort/flattery commercial, just make sure the maserati is in there.
August 27, 200718 yr I don't know why I always forget that '58 Buicks dropped Portholes. The B-58 had so much chrome dripping off it's every corner it's hard to beleive they trimmed down some anywhere. I swear I saw a '58 Buick at a carshow as a kid with a set of round ventiports in the front fender just above the sweep-spear. Call me crazy but that's my excuse.
August 27, 200718 yr Oh... and yes, I was refering to your "stacked venitport" idea. I thought that was a great new spin on an old design element. how about at a slight forward pitch (angle) in a semi-vertical fashion just rear of the front wheel?
