Interesting..I didn't realize the Ram used the 4.7..I assumed all V8 Rams were 5.7 Hemis. I thought the 4.7 was only in the GC and Commander (apparently it's also available in the Dakota, Durango and Aspen).

Ya, one way they increased hp/torque/mpg by adding an extra spark plug to each cylinder. Hello tune up bill. But the Hemi has the same number of spark plugs so it isn't a difference either way now.

Hp numbers will range from 290 to 305. Not bad at all.

If you think that is great.....wait a year to hear what the next 5.7L will be pumping out....hehehe

Also the 6.4L will make its first appearance into the Challenger SRT8. 500hp anyone?

Yes, I've known about this for some time. it debuted on the refreshed Dakota and will be replacing the old 4.7 in the Durango, Grand Cherokee, I believe the Commander and will be featured in the new Ram along with upgraded 5.7L Hemi.

Borrowing a few tricks from the Hemi book of play and a little help from AMG went a long way. It took this engine from mediocre to impressive. If there's one thing Mercedes have really helped Chrysler out with besides the LX platform it's Chrysler utilizing AMG's engine specialists to unleash a lot of untapped power. Look at the new ier...up 90 horsepower for a total of 600!

Moltar, the Ram's midgrade engine is the 4.7.
