Street-Legal Chinese Cars Available in the States, Today*

Featured Replies

Miles Automotive is currently selling street legal, low speed all-electric cars, built in China.

I've driven one.

They supposedly have a 'real car' (Li batteries, 120 mi range and 80MPH) planned for an 08 rollout!

I bet it's recalled for lead paint and leaking batteries. Oha nd I bet it crumples like tin foil in a low-speed accident

A lot of college campuses have "intended for off-road use only" Chinese microvans.

Zap Cars is also importing Chinese electric cars, such as the lovely Xebra Xero.. I sat in one at the auto show a few months ago..strange little vehicles.

Ours has an electric Geo Metro hatch...complete with unpainted bumpers!

I saw a Zap Xebra display at the NY-NAIAS two and a half years ago.

I was NOT impressed. It's was quite horrific.

The fit & finish on these things was "dollar store sunglasses" at best.

I'm waiting for the Chinese automakers to get over here and immediately suffer crippling recalls.

I am going to laugh my ass off.

Seating: Up to 4 (303 lbs.)

?? That's just 75 pounds per person!! Not going to work out well in my family of lard asses.

It would hold a full load of fashion models though.

Yes...that's absurdly low. But didn't Chevrolet sell the Geo Metro Convertible with a weight capacity of 288 pounds for two passengers and their luggage?
