September 15, 200718 yr When naming crossovers, I think that these automakers need a BIT more imagination. For example: Mazda cX7 Mazda cX9 BMW X3 BMW X5 Acura MDX Acura RDX Saab 9-4X Saab 9-7X Cadillac BRX Nissan X-Terra (started it?) Cadillac SRX Lincoln MKX Chevy equinoX (bit of a stretch) Volvo XC90 Volvo XC70 Volvo XC60 Suzuki XL7 Suzuki SX4 Infiniti QX Lexus RX Lexus LX Lexus GX Cheers to Audi for thier Q-line instead of the X-humping, and Mercedes for not even having an acronym for thier SUVs. Not to mention the domestics for all staying out of the "X" game aside from the lux-marques. Especially Chrysler, which has no faux X's. Anyone wanna play the numbers game? If you can name all the Audis, BMWs, Mazdas, and Volvos by numerical classification, you are a very depraved person indeed. Can anyone add to my list? Edited September 15, 200718 yr by dimitri0917
September 15, 200718 yr Everyone knows that if you add an X to the name of car it automatically makes the vehicle in question hip and trendy. Bonus points if you misspell the word AND include an X in its name. Let's face it, what letter of the alphabet could be more radical than the letter X? But let's say you don't want to look radical. Then its best to use German letters like, Ü, ß, Ö, etc. i dont know why but when automakers mispelled cars and features it always bothered me.... like Stabilitrak...lol
September 15, 200718 yr It's all about the bottom line, people. Why pay a marketing board to come up with names like Bonneville and Eldorado when you can just name a car yourself by closing your eyes and pounding a keyboard with your fist? $h!, I'll do it right now; watch: XFD GFF SDX MKJ GFC SRD SFD MCX TYK SDE XCF RGF XCN See? Put your manufacturer of choice in front of those letters and in ten seconds I just named all the American, European, and Japanese luxury crossovers to be built for the next 15 years.
