September 21, 200718 yr I saw a green and white Prius taxi today in traffic..I googled and found this article: From the Denver Business Journal: ---Metro Taxi doubled its fleet of hybrid vehicles on Denver streets Monday, bringing the total to 10. The addition of the five new Toyota Hybrid Prius is in keeping with a pledge Metro Taxi made in late May to replace all 500 vehicles in its fleet with hybrids. Metro Taxi said replacing one of its taxis with a Prius is equal to converting five non-commercial vehicles to hybrids. The company estimates converting its entire fleet will save 3 million gallons of gas a year.
September 21, 200718 yr Today, I saw a blue 1964 Oldsmobile Super 88 Sedan being driven by some teenager...
September 21, 200718 yr One of our city's cab companies has forty hybrids. I hate hybrid cars, but they are useful in a taxi situation.
September 21, 200718 yr We have some strange Taxis here. PT Cruisers are used by a company called "Cruiser Cab". Stretched 500s and Montegos are used by a company called Classy Cab. Checker uses old Tauruses, LeSabres and Devilles. Edited September 21, 200718 yr by Oldsmoboi

We have a mix of the usual Crown Vics and Grand Marquis here, along with Explorers, Trailblazers, even a few DTSes and Park Avenues around.
September 21, 200718 yr I've been meaning to take a pic of one. The stretch Montego actually looks pretty sharp.
September 21, 200718 yr Priuses and Escape Hybrids make great taxis, considering all the stop-and-go traffic they encounter. I was toying with the Passat's trip computer, and I got about 6 MPG accelerating from a stop (~5 seconds), 25-99 MPG coasting to a halt (~5 seconds), and 0 MPG while idling (~10 seconds). It averages to about 11 MPG until traffic starts flowing again. In Austria I rode in a silver Alfa 159 diesel taxi, which was way cooler than all the other E-classes and Mondeos. The most unusual taxi I've ridden in was a Fiat Multipla in Rome. Small outside, huge inside..very strange design...I also rode in an older Lancia wagon.. In Stresa (Northern Italy, on Lake Maggiore) I rode in an older diesel E-class..must have been around a 1990 or so..spotless inside and out.
September 21, 200718 yr We have the usual Crown Vics, Grand Marquis', and Town Cars all between 93-01?
