September 21, 200718 yr First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit With improved ride and handling plus a more spacious and more stylish interior, the new Fit addresses all the criticisms leveled at the current car. * 14.2 cubic feet of cargo space * 10 cupholders * 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine * 118 horsepower the stretched wheelbase of the new Fit primarily improves rear-seat legroom, which has increased 1.6 inches With a handheld stopwatch, we clocked this car to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds.
September 21, 200718 yr This is basically compact material - in interior room, performance, equipment, and price - with the external dimensions and fuel economy of a subcompact. It's funny how the 1er is like the old 3er, the Fit like the old Civic... Edited September 21, 200718 yr by empowah
September 21, 200718 yr Can someone tell me why a sub compact like the Fit needs 10 cup holders? Why did I start humming "America" by Neil Diamond after I read your question? I'm impressed with the new Fit. Honda just made the best subcompact better.
September 21, 200718 yr Author Can someone tell me why a sub compact like the Fit needs 10 cup holders? It's simple math. The Fit can accommodate up to 5 people. That allows each person to have 2 drinks each. Since we're all lazy and never clean our cars out, that reduces the number of times we have to discard old soda bottles by half, thus saving time.

September 25, 200718 yr 10 cupholders, for the empties. Still only a meager 118hp? 8.9 seconds? Jesus Christ, can we at least have 140hp and something in the range of 7.2 seconds?

Makes sense...need room for the coffee and bottled water. Now if the cupholders were chilled, heated, lighted and with removable liners for cleaning, life would be perfect.

Most European B-segment subcompacts have "hot" versions with 175–200 PS. 120 PS is not even the top-level for smaller A-segment hatches such as the Yaris, Micra/March, C2 and Swift. For B/C-segment models (that is in the size area in which the B-and C-segments overlap) the minimum power level for gasoline engines is 60 PS, It then progresses regularly up from there in small increments— 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110 (although few models have versions representing successive levels). The latest 1.5s and 1.6s are moving from the 105-110 level to 115 to 120 (not many as yet, and the Corsa doesn't offer an engine of this size at all, although it could easily). The ist/xD is the sole example with an engine at the 130 PS level, just above the old Corsa GSi, but there is a large cluster of European models (including the Corsa) at the 150 PS level, primarily turbocharged 1.5 and 1.6 L engines. For 5-doors such as the Fit, that is the upper limit, but 3-doors get hotter turbos from 175—192 PS, and the odd (no replacement for displacement) Clio with a high-revving 2.0 L at 200 PS. The A/B-segment in which the Sirion, Mini, Yaris hatch, Micra/March, C2 and Swift reside, starts at the same covers a similar range from 60 PS up but generally peaks at the 125—130 PS level (Swift Sport, C2 VTS, Yaris TS), with the exception of the Mini Cooper S at 175 PS.

LOL I resemble that remark except I don't use the word soda.
