October 14, 200520 yr The Galant difference is quite striking. Also, that Xantia pic is HORRIBLE! That's worse than Blazer / Trans Sport.
October 14, 200520 yr Yellow Dart: Exactly... waht I forgot to mention and yopu touched upon was that the most dangerous accident is stil with a tree, stone wall, telephone pole or whatever else will not budge at all when hit by a car/truck. Look at how Princess Di bought the farm. If they had hit another car, or a guardrail thta would budge slightly she'd probably be alive. But at 120mph into a cement post she ended up with small fragments of radiator embeded in her chest. No joke. Stil they say wiht a seatbelt she might have even survived that. So as much as these tests err on the side of mildness sometimes even in the real world people survive the unthinkable. And this was an SL300. Edited October 14, 200520 yr by Sixty8panther
October 14, 200520 yr Yep, the body guard of Di who was in the front passenger seat survived the crash. He was the only one wearing a seat belt. It looks like they cut off the roof, btw.
October 14, 200520 yr Last gen. Park Ave. -- S O L I D -- [post="28898"][/post] G-bods rock. Period. And am I the only one that though there should've been a worldwide safety belt awareness campaign centered around Princess Di's death? According to traffic investigators, she was sitting in the safest position given that impact.
October 15, 200520 yr Well, I suspect you cannot get any more direct in a comparison of old v. new with the above test.
October 15, 200520 yr Holy cow Empowah.... that's a eye opener right there... no B.S. apples to apples comparison.
October 15, 200520 yr I wonder if you could find a Cobalt vs Cavalier hit. Or Celebrity vs Impala. Or ???
October 16, 200520 yr Wonder when IIHS will be testing for axe-resistance: Edited October 16, 200520 yr by empowah
October 16, 200520 yr We have a silver '04 BMW 7 series with 22" spinners that got shot up outside a bar... hmmm... wonder why someone would do that? <_<
October 17, 200520 yr My god, GM obviously didn't put much effort into the structure of those vans. At least they make a good crumple zone for other vehicles..
