Pontiac Solstice SD-290 Race Concept

Designed to evoke the emotions of classic sports cars, the Pontiac Solstice SD-290 race concept captures the purposeful design of vintage racecars. The design is dramatic, featuring a passenger cockpit tonneau cover and a driver windscreen, creating a pure racecar that looks ready to take the checkered flag even while sitting on the starting grid.

Aerodynamics have been improved and the SD-290’s weight reduced with the removal of the windshield, side glass, window regulator, convertible top, climate system and windshield wiper system. Complementing the design are new side fender gill panels, a new hood with heat extracting grilles and a competition red paint scheme.

Backing up the race-ready appearance is the available Club Sport Z0K suspension package and an all-business cockpit filled with auxiliary gauges, a roll bar and racing seat.

That looks interesting but I am not sure how pratical in daily life. I do like the front end and I hope it makes it to the production car. It looks more masculine to me.

its perfect for daily life... as long as the daily is on saturday and sunday and the life is on the track

What part of "race concept" did you misunderstand? Daily life has nothing to do with it...

I need to see this thing on a road course!

At least GM could have put a 6-speed manual transmission in teh concept.

Give me the new nose clip and the new rear clip (Both of which are extremely sexy)

And then throw the rest of it out back with the leftover GP GXP parts.

I am a little biased though, since I've always hated single seaters.

I'd like to see it in traditional British racing colours.

Cool Weekend Racer. They should build it as I know a lot of people would love a weekend racer like this.

I liked the rendering more. In those photos, it looks too tall.
