UAW spokesman Paul Krell said that the UAW had notified locals by e-mail that an agreement is possible. A source inside GM says it is "very confident" but added that the automaker could impose unilateral benefits cuts this week if talks fail. Krell said GM has not raised the possibility of unilateral cuts in talks. A spokesman for GM declined comment.
October 15, 200520 yr Not only benifit, Pay cuts too, i was talking to my dad today, and they want him to go from $30 dolllars to $15 dollars an hour. So there might go middle class and all they tax payers. So hey government you lost alot of money with out sourcing.
October 15, 200520 yr No pay cut here on the UAW side but instead, OVERTIME is in tact from here on out throughout the rest of the year. Funny how one side suffers, the other succeeds. Nah, it's called management.

Ouch...a 50% pay cut would seriously suck... my rates have been all over the place in software development the last 8 yrs...I was getting about $30/hr when I got out of school in '97 then went up to $80/hr in '00 (right before the bubble burst in high tech--I was able to bill O/T also, no benefits--had to pay my own health insurance, etc).... now I'm happy to be getting $60/hr w/ benefits in a stable company... October 15, 200520 yr It seems some consession from the leadership would go along way to help workers agree to consessions. The recent BS with the Delphi leaders was a poor sign of leadership and only poured fuel on the flames.
