December 18, 200718 yr I like Insignia, but I think they're best to stay with the same name they won car of the year with for more than 3 years. Either name would be good, tho.
December 18, 200718 yr Well, if the Aura and Insignia were sold side by side in the same dealer like a certain compact Dodge was for a few years, then I would say consolidate the two and let the stronger absorb the weaker, so to say (which would be the reverse of the scenario you presented, the Aura name would be on the bolt-badged Opel and not Insignia; Europeans would see the Aura name, know that the previous U.S.-only generation won North American car of the year, and buy it knowing that it has that strength, that merit, if it is made known to our Old World counterparts). But since the Insignia name stays across the pond and may differ in a few ways to accommodate European tastes and standards, let our version stick with the Aura name so that it can build a strong reputation in the United States and resonate that much more with the buyer than it does now.
