I noticed quite a few links between the 2006 Impala and Bel Air concept thought I would share one of these with you.

The have two dash humps and that's about it...

The double-hump dash was forever linked to Chevrolet in the 50's. I think it's a nice connection to some simpler, more joyous times for Chevrolet, when their confidence was high.

Frankly, I think it would behoove Chevrolet to make the passenger-side hump bigger and symmetrical to the driver-side one. Then it could house something useful, like a clock or dual-zone temp controls. It would be a nice touch at least...

I don't know why--why at all, I like the Bel-Air dash. It's SO against what I like about dashes, yet I like it. And I hate horizontal speedometers--and retro-looking big-ass numbers... and I love it in this dash. Weird.

I really wish that GM and Chevy would use that chrome column mounted shift selector in their current cars, instead of that cheap plastic thing in the current Impala and Tahoe/Suburban. That was always the Chevy tradition, from 1967 on, that classic, slightly curved column mounted shifter, especially in the full sized Caprice and Impala -- and it continues today in the current Impala and Tahoe/Suburban, although now its black plastic. I think i saw a picture of a new Lucerne with a column shifter; don't know if Cadillac is using them anymore on the DTS....
