But this concept as such is not bad for India. The fuel economy is not bad, it passes emmisions and safety requirements and it is decently powered for Indian roads where they see speeds hardly exceeding 60 Kmph (38 mph). Plus given the economics, they may well achieve the target of 500K. A motorcycle roughly costs 60,000 Rs in India and they sell on the order of 2.5 million. If 20% of those people make jump to this thing then the target is right on spot. The Chairman Ratan Tata is a great visionary, and he is a good strategist. He may succeed with this car.
