OK. So what's the deal with this car and GM. The Pontiac site has not been updated with REAL production info - still the intro stuff that has been there for months. Every report I see of the car has all the CONCEPT car pictures. And every picture I have seen has been of a "pre-production" vehicle. I don't think I've ever seen an interior pic of the real thing yet. Why so secretive?

The Pontiac site sucks and always has. It was the same way when GTO was coming out - they didn't even update with the info in official GM press releases. It seems no one inside GM gives a crap about Pontiac.

They only expect 40,000 a year? How is this going to replace the Grand Prix?

Easy.

The GP was mostly fleet anyway, and the Impala can take up that slack.

The G8 will be almost entirely retail.

What was it? And when in the hell is GM going to post some non-concept photos of the G8 on the Wieck?

The GP was on pace to sell under 20k retail units for the 2007 MY halfway through. 77.6% were to fleets. What a pile.

The G8 will have no problem selling 40k to retail. That's DOUBLE what the GP did. I laugh at all who say the G8 was a mistake and they should have kept the GP.

I would have kept the name. But life will go on I got one rare of Bonneville.

Oshawa has exclusive rights to the name - they couldn't use it if they wanted to.

When I built a loaded G8 on Edmunds, it was $32,745...though the automatic only makes it a non-starter for me.

It also came up with a G8 Ad that said "Smart Design. Stupid Fast. G8 GT, the most powerful car starting under $30K" Then it linked to this Edmunds article - link

Yes. The only way the G8 can wear the Grand Prix badge is if they build it at Oshawa (plant 2, correct?), which they could. But it looks as if they probably won't

That's stupid...how does GM get into such nonsense with their contracts?

didnt the canadian plant have exclusive rights to the Camaro name before the plant was demolished?

Yes, and that fact alone would have prevented a new Camaro being built sooner even if GM had had one ready in 2003.

I do not beleive that Oshawa has exclusivity rights to any vehicle

It has exclusivity rights to the names.
