January 31, 200818 yr I like both of them. Agreed. Only the '84 doesn't deserve to wear the Hurst name and it's too bad the '70 isn't wearing it. Can't fault that gorgeous '70 for not, though; it's still awesome. As for the '84, it's too bad the Hurst name had to end on such a low note; a funky shifter and blacked-out grille does not a muscle car make, especially when said car has nothing but the same wheezy, oil-starved 307 that's under the hood of your grandma's Ninety-Eight Regency or Fleetwood Brougham. I'm all about the 80's G-bodies (too bad every single one around here is either beat to death or rotted to death; usually both), but I'd take a plain one over a "decal GT" any day of the week.

Not sure if the Dodge Mirada CMX had an optional 360 that year (if so, it was probably rated at 180hp), I know the 318 was a 130hp boat anchor around that time. Relatively speaking, Oldsmobile kept more of the old musclecar promise than anyone in the class in 1984. EDIT: ha, the Mirada went out of production in 1983, I forgot that. January 31, 200818 yr I love the 87-88 Cutlasses with the dual-element headlamps like the last one posted. We had champagne '84 Calais and a black '85, both with 231 V6s. I wish we could have held on to at least one of them. Any love for the first-gen Cutlasses?
January 31, 200818 yr I've always maintained that '61 Oldsmobile (with the exception of the Starfire) have a face that only a mother could love, but even those have been growing on me more in recent years. I think part of it is due to the fact that every time I go to my father's shop I get to see the 1961 F-85 four door sedan with only 9800 original miles on it that a friend of his stores in one of the back buildings. It's a cool little ugly car.

Here I was, minding my own little buisiness, trying to forget about old school muscle and enjoy dreaming about a nice little fuel efficient modern car like a Sky Redline or a MINI Cooper S and you guys had to post THIS! I'm in utter lust, and I probably won't sleep tonight after seeing the 70. Love the color! Who needs internet porn when we can look at cars like these? The Hurst is sad because it is just like my friend Jeremy's which was stolen and stripped by some low life...Damn I miss that car. I want my old Chevelle back...1970 was probably (along with 1959 and 1966) one of the best years for American cars. Chris

Both the Cordoba and Mirada only had the one year for the 185hp 360 though, as far as I know anyways... I like both the above Oldsmobiles, but the older one gets the nod for my tastes. I like the 1966 Cutlass too.
February 1, 200818 yr ocn's right: for the time they were... umm... 'hot', it's mostly in retrospect that they are weak. But the '84's Lightning Rods were pretty dang cool. Would be sweet if someone took a clean example and dropped a 350/425/455 Olds underhood.

It was a nice car, absolutely NO rust or body damage, but the blue paint was faded, it looked kinda chaulky. I remember it had swivel buckets and a weird louvered hood scoop. Not a bad car, but I can't remember what happened to it, if we sold it, or what... LOL

February 19, 200818 yr The mid 80's G-body Cutlass is easy enough to improve power on. Here we don't have inspections so... mechanical quad, true duals, no smog pump, vacuum advance distributor with HEI and a better rear end and tranny will do wonders for the old girl. You'd be surprised what you can get out of a smog suffocated old 307. I did all that to all my girls and wow, much better. The gas mileage sucks anyway so whats to lose? God, I need another one so bad I can taste it. I wanted to bigblock the last one, but the old man said we'd have to cut out the heater box, so we couldn't do it. But I wonder, would a 403 fit? If I could find one, there's gotta be some old Delta sitting around in a grandma's garage. Oh well, a girl can dream can't she?
