According to the comments below, this 455 CI-based big block Buick goes from 2500 RPM to 7000 in 2nd on the rollers.

Hope you're sitting down around the 18-sec mark...

Now... picture 80% of that brawn in a car this angry:

I knew what was gonna happen, and I STILL went :omfg:

:mellow::metal:

:wub:

and on the subject of revving, i know someone who is working an a DZ302 out of a 69 z28... i know they rev high, but he claims with this motor he'll launch off of 9000RPM and shift at 10K,,,, i thought it sounded sketchy but this guy is known to do some crazy $h!.... when he's done i know hearng it launch will sound like the world coming to an end! :)

Noice!!

Some people cannot let off the cool aid they drink so forgive them.

Very cool. Sounds like there's a lot of whistling in the video; is that a supercharger I hear before and after he romps on it?

Balt: It'll be awesome when your car is finally done; I've always wanted to do something like that. I've thought about building up a Cadillac 500 out of a '70 Eldorado (the only one that never really got choked down by government regulatons) and dropping it in a nice '55-'60 Coupe DeVille or Series 62 coupe. Keep at it and stop being so damn stingy with the photographs! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

but.... but.... pushrods r teh sux!

zomg! you musta put V-tec in that....... only wai possible

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I believe that's the rollers bringing it up to 2500 RPM (the standard starting point for chassis dyno runs). That, and there's precious few SC BBBs out there, I only know of one... and I'm pretty sure this car would be quicker if SC'ed. Buick V-8 guys are near unanimously a N/A bunch; they don't "need" power adders. :wink:

A guy I used to know built a "junkyard" Pontiac 455 he installed in a '71 Firebird for drag racing. That car did high 9s in the quarter (N/A, no NOSSSSS) and turned over 8500 RPM doing it. Still, multitudes will tell you IBC motors cannot rev worth their block's scrap value, because it's just not possible. :wink:

Here's a blown BBBuick: 8.88 @ 152... a bit quicker.

Had a friend who had a 428 Pontiac that would rev to 10,500+RPM. He build an exhaust system that used backpressure to keep the valvetrain from floating. He had it in an 84 Cutlass that would run in the low 9's.

Big V-8's will do some serious stuff.

And Oldsmoboi, your wrong, a VTEC will blow up if you do that to it...and your right...it is amzing how wrong the "ricers" are...
