February 7, 200818 yr Think about what you most want in a car, and then list what you'd just as soon not have. Don't let yourself be restricted by any safety or environmental, or crash regulations. What items would you be just as happy not having? I'll list mine later. :AH-HA_wink:
February 7, 200818 yr I'm at the point where a sunroof and leather interior (unless the cloth option was a horrible one) are not very high on the list anymore. It used to be that every vehicle I wanted had to have the sunroof option. Not so anymore. With finances being tight, fuel economy & cost are bigger issues nowadays.

February 8, 200818 yr Necessities: A sleek, pleasing shape A nice looking interior with switchgear that feels substantial. Booming stereo Nice wheels (no wheel covers) Sunroof Nice, tight suspension and steering Adequate power (I never want myself saying "C'mon, faster you POS") Good city MPGs Ability to swallow at least one bicycle cruise control - helps get better MPGs on long trips power locks/windows collapsible mirrors. I'd have lost mirrors on three separate occasions if not for the collapsible mirrors. Highly desired: Rear drive: Would be "essential", but part of me isn't sure how I feel about getting my nice rear-driver all covered in rock salt in the winter Leather, easpecially heated leather Manual tranny: would be "essential" if I lived in an area where there weren't stoplights every 500 feet. Can live without NAV: I have a portable GPS. I have an internet connection with access to MapQuest. I have a mouth with which to ask directions. soft-touch plastics everywhere power seats. Up, down, forward backward - that's good enough for me. backup cameras adaptive speed control self parking
February 8, 200818 yr I need, at the very least, preferably nothing more: Mid-sized Coupe or Sedan (preferably Coupe) Attractive, clean design devoid of unnecessary bolt-on exterior parts and a good stance V6 engine standard (Power is a need, not a want) Manual transmission Rear-wheel drive Great handling and a "sporty" suspension Decent MPG (Doesn't have to be some Wunder-Car with 100 MPG city) CD player Alloy wheels at least 17" or larger, equipped with a set of considerately low profile tires (I'm weird, I know, it's just one of those things) Air Conditioning Bucket seats That's all I require in a new car. This is what I don't want or try to avoid as much as possible: Sub-compact sedans and hatchbacks, compact sedans Four-cylinder engines Automatic transmissions Front-wheel drive Cassette players (We had an '04 Impala with one of those, a really retarded thing to have when you don't own a working cassette tape anymore) Wheel covers (Again, that '04 Impala had them and started to yellow after a year; gimme some metal, please) Bench seats (Don't care for them; the ones in the Sonoma are going to go soon for buckets with a console as soon as I have the money) Every other option available on a new car that I didn't mention? I can take 'em or leave 'em. Edited February 8, 200818 yr by YellowJacket894
