March 4, 200818 yr Just got done reading the new car issue of Consumer Reports. In the article about "automaker scorecards" or whatever, they say in it that Toyota overtook GM as the world's largest automaker this year. I thought that it was determined that GM sold more? Besides, it was so close that tie goes to the 80 year champ right?
March 4, 200818 yr Gee... This is so appropriate in so many ways. It's shows 1) what side CR is on 2) How uninformed the source and media in general is and 3) Just another day's work in how the media flat out lies about the facts to portray whatever story they want the reader to believe.
March 4, 200818 yr Author Somebody from General Motors needs to write a letter in response to CR's article. This is just not right. You are supposed to check your sources before you go to press. CR can't say that they were already going to press either when the final tally was made.
March 4, 200818 yr I bet all the Toyota humpers with the 'new' Tundra are really happy with this on top of the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award...vendication is Toyota's..."See! We are the Biggest and the BEST-Evar! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR TRUCKS AND CARS - SEE?" This is why I do not read either rag. Absolute BS.
March 4, 200818 yr This was an inevitable choice...if they had not picked Toyota, imagine the uproar amongst their readers..
March 5, 200818 yr Just got done reading the new car issue of Consumer Reports. In the article about "automaker scorecards" or whatever, they say in it that Toyota overtook GM as the world's largest automaker this year. I thought that it was determined that GM sold more? Besides, it was so close that tie goes to the 80 year champ right? what reasoning do they have behind this?
March 5, 200818 yr This was an inevitable choice...if they had not picked Toyota, imagine the uproar amongst their readers.. It isn't a choice, the statement is either factual or fallacious. In this case it is a false statement that they will need to retract. My prediction: They will say that they used "Toyota's methods" for calculating the numbers, therby shrugging-off their responsibilities. The less than honest methods of both Toyota and CR make them perfect for each other.
