March 5, 200818 yr moltar: Congratulations! You've now got a great selections of '59 GMs! And going by the picture, it looks pretty complete. My uncle George had an actual 1959 Buick LeSabre, a 4-door in something like a bronze color. I remember when his car was parked in his garage at home, thinking those fins were gigantic.
March 6, 200818 yr I had both a '59 Bonneville convertible friction/promo & a '59 Invicta hardtop promo.. but I sold both after I realized I had pulled them out of the box about 3 times in 8 years. Paid $90 for the B-59 and sold it for $120, put that cash right into an UltraBell for the TH400, which I'll install this weekend (have to cut the factory bellhousing off the TH400). Is that 2-tone the previous owner's job, because the factory 2-tone would've had the roof/decklid in red also (not that these models every worried about techincal correctness...)

I suspect it's a brush paint job...the auction said it had a few issues..glue spots on the decklid, holes from antennas and spotlights, a crack in the left c-pillar. I figure I'll restore it eventually and paint it an appropriate vintage color. I have a bunch of old AMT kits to restore and build eventually..
March 6, 200818 yr I knocked the correctness, but I see the model has one minor detail right: the frame is so massive it hangs down about 2" below the rockers in real life. Why not glue a B-Pillar in there, molt, 'it's not like anyone will notice'. :AH-HA_wink: I haven't built a model since I was in my teens.

I dropped out of models when I was in my teens, picked up the hobby again about 10 years ago... it's a nice relaxing hobby, gets me away the stress and tedium of corporate America... I've got about 1500 unbuilt kits and 250 old ones to restore in my stash. Speaking of the b-pillar, I'm not aware of any models of a '59 LeSabre 2dr sedan, but there is a resin caster out there that makes a sweet 1:25th '59 Olds 88 2dr sedan kit.. March 6, 200818 yr That's a cool purchase. I'd love to build models, but just don't have the skill at painting nor the patience to deal with small parts. I used this one kid/guy back in the early '90s to build me three professional-looking model kits - still have one of them with me today (ERTL's 1955 Chevy Cameo). I've bought some kits over the years, hoping to one day find someone else who does this work on the side. Last summer, I bought resin GMC kits to make the ERTL 1955 and 1957 Chevy Cameo's into '55 & '57 GMC Suburban Carriers. Now I just need someone to do the work for me!
