Speaking of get togethers

Featured Replies

With the mention of the gatherings in various parts of the US, I started wondering if anyone here was thinking about going to Hot August Nights, and would be interested in using that show as a meeting event. The show dates are August 2 - 10.

To me HAN has to be one of the best shows ever. All of the entries are 1972 and older American and European cars and trucks. Panther would probably have to be restrained. (j/k) This years entry limit is 5500 and if anyone thinks that is all that will be down there, they are nuts.

It's one show where you have to put aside at least some of your prejudice for the car you own, simply because there is way too much you will miss unless you open your eyes to the beauty that is there. (And then of course there are the cheerleaders in bikinis selling ice cream).

I would be interested in having a get together sometime during the show. Tammy and I are set to arrive on Monday and will be leaving on Saturday. We'll be driving the 72 Buick Skylark Convertible. Its not easy to miss.

I know several people who plan to be at HAN from various MC boards/groups.

Thought about going this year, but it just isn't in the cards, as I'll be in PA the end of that week for our family reunion ... and a mini-side trip to NJ/MD/VA.

PCS - Its worth the drive. Trust me. I've been going to this show for 7 years now. There's always so much to see that you haven't seen before.

The only problem is getting rooms unless you reserve early. Tammy and I have our reservations already. Thankfully, she was able to work us out a great deal. Then convince the hotel to offer it to all the people coming with us.

The only thing I have a tough time with is the car auction. A couple of years ago, I almost wound up getting a 67 Corvair convertible (too bad Tammy didn't like it) and then a 67 Camaro convertible.

Reno

911. Wrong thread? :P

I wish I were closer, but I'm definitely not flying to a car show. haha

I always take a month off in the summer in July or August. We are spending a week in Lake Tahoe and a week in San Diego. We are driving across country either in the Pontiac Custom-S or the Chevy Equinox, because we want to see the country, not just fly over it. My niece was getting married in Scotland in August, but because of a church availability issue it has been moved back to September, works for me. I will check hotel availability in Reno in the next couple of days, I'm leaving for a work trip tomorrow so it will have to wait until I get settled in there. I'm not sure about internet access where I am going, but whatever, I won't be gone forever. :AH-HA_wink:
