March 30, 200817 yr Well boys (and girls) it is spring and it was time for the offical shop-vacing, wheel polishing, car washing, exhaust tip cleaning, undusting SPRING FLING. Saturday morning my Torrent went to my small town GM dealer to get a oil-change for the first time at 1400 miles and had molded-splash guards put on, GM performance parts exhaust tip in chrome (to match my wheels had to do it) and some long awaited factory floor-mats. I might tint the windows but might be leaning against it. Anyways so I cleaned her up Friday night and some more later Saturday and then did the Bonneville, Saturday. Anyone have any advice for removing oxidation (lil like rust spots) from the chrome wheels on my Bonneville, hardly any is on the shiner finish but on the rougher finish that goes back towards the brakes (on a different plane) any products I can use? Or suggestion or am I f*cked because in Iowa we get hit hard with the salt especially this year, with all the snow almost a record year! Its not real bad but can I fix it? Any suggestions are welcome and apperciated. Other than that enjoy the photos and tell me what you think of them and my next goodies on the SUV. Take care and enjoy, this will come in a few posts at least like 40ish... Maybe a few more. I do think the two dark Pontiac's one Cranberry Red Metallic (Bonneville) and the other Purple Haze Metallic (Torrent) with 17'inch chrome wheels look like brothers together with the dual kidney grill and same arrow-head logo. It is a nice happy Poncho family. If anyone in wondering the Impala (what my son drives) was washed and that is it. Interior is still ucky from winter. I might get around to it, errr not. It was intended for a pop-up camper in back but that never happend, so we cleaned it out to shove 3 cars in it, I wish it could hold four now! Custom where is your GP sold? Or just sitting in America? Thanks for the kind words tho guys I apperciate it. Edited March 30, 200817 yr by gm4life
March 30, 200817 yr Nice job on the cleanup! Be careful of those wheels on the Bonnie. As with most GM wheels, I believe they are clearcoated, so don't use any harsh polishes.
March 30, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the compliment guys, Camio anything I can do to remove that stuff? Products suggestions etc?
March 30, 200817 yr Thanks for the compliment guys, Camio anything I can do to remove that stuff? Products suggestions etc? I'd say to just be careful and use clearcoat safe polish. Might be easier to do with the wheels off of the car.
March 31, 200817 yr Thanks is that a brand name product? No, but any brand that is safe for clearcoat will say so. By now there should be some products just for wheels that are clearcoated. Sorry, but I don't have any names for you. Northie might.
March 31, 200817 yr Everybody should have two kidneys. You're a lucky guy, you have FOUR! may i borrow a rake? :AH-HA_wink:
