April 16, 200817 yr Any of the mods have the scoop or are we still "flying blind" on this topic? Maybe he bought that Jaguar after all and ended up in the poor-house as a result of the repair bills, or perhaos mental hospital for same basic root causes? I've got a few Jaguar hood ornaments amongst the hundreds of emblems I've collected over the years. That's all the Jaguar I need. I'd love to see my old '76 LeSabre featured in the "Project Car Chronicles". Saddly I do not even know if Fly still owns the car.
April 16, 200817 yr Some lady dinged dinged his Aurora while loading her kid into a RAV4, and he just lost it. He slugged her and destroyed the RAV with a sledgehammer. Now I think he travels cross country sprinkling acid on the frames of 95-00 Tacomas and stealing third and fifth gear from every unattended Camry he sees. Seriously, though, I have no idea.

April 16, 200817 yr Could he have gotten tired of the constant stupidity and immaturity around here? Actually, this is one of the best car forums IMHO on the web. We have some people and their opinions, but still... This place, Miatanet, and Grassrootsmotorsports.com are the only real web forums I like. If you want stupidity, go to almost any of the Mustang Forums. (I say that and I am a big Mustang fan.) Stangnet isn't bad, but the rest....sorry. Chris
April 16, 200817 yr Author Satty thinks the only valid opinion is his own. Hence his insistance of all manner of stereotypes like: 3rd Gen. F-body = mullett sporting driver with low IQ
April 16, 200817 yr I know of a P.H.D. who drives a 3rd gen F-Body, so that would pretty much shoot that stereotype in the ass. Chris
April 16, 200817 yr I have no doubt that he still has the LeSabre.. I just hope he comes back one of these days
April 16, 200817 yr Reading up on that Jaguar thread, I can see why the guy might have possibly gotten miffed at this place. I doubt the whole GME vs Holden deal has helped much either.
April 16, 200817 yr Could he have gotten tired of the constant stupidity and immaturity around here? If that's what it was, then it's been a long time coming. He was so irritated with certain posters, but he never really did anything about it, aside from a few pranks here and there. Keeping all that inside for so long maybe just caused hm to up and leave.
April 17, 200817 yr I can understand why he'd do it, I'd just like to know the real reason why he left. It's strange to just disappear and never check in or leave some notice when you're the main administrator. Curiosity gets me...

It's strange to just disappear and never check in or leave some notice when you're the main administrator. Curiosity gets me... Yeah really, especially since he is one of the people who ran this site. When you're in a position like that you shouldn't just up and leave when you've got responsibilities like that. I'd just like to know has he's doing.
April 17, 200817 yr None of us know why, but to assume that it had anything to do with people on the site is just absurd. Fly's life got busy and his priorities changed, beyond that we simply don't know a thing.
April 17, 200817 yr Do we really need a topic on this every month or so? PM'ing Fly would be much more efficient.
April 17, 200817 yr Reading the comments on his Myspace page makes me think there might have been trouble with his GF. His status is also set to "lonely" edit: And his last log on to Myspace was today.

April 17, 200817 yr , Yes I agree with you. He was being sarcastic, if I recall correctly his favorite car was a Camry Solara.
April 17, 200817 yr He was being sarcastic, if I recall correctly his favorite car was a Camry Solara. Yep, loved that car. I was pointing out that 68 says all of my posts are the same (go ahead, do a post search, see how many times I say "mullet") where the truth is that he only has about 4 posts that he re-words and puts into every topic.

You boys need to take it out back and duke it out. When one of you knocks the other on his ass, get up, shake hands, dust yourselves off and come back in here and be Civil. April 18, 200817 yr Author Chris: I wish I could afford a '70 Chevelle rolling chassis to make a great daily driver. I'd slap a SBC 327 in that bad larry, M22 trans. & a '71 rear bumper/tail lights & last but not least a gear-vendors rear end for 8-speeds. Ta-da!!! Good fuel economy meets bad ass bitchin set of wheels!

The beginning of your project awaits, Sixty8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-CHEVY-...3QQcmdZViewItem The Chevelle is, by and by, my favorite A-Body and places very high on my "To Buy" list.
April 18, 200817 yr Author Great find YJ! That's very tempting. But chances are reserve is about $10,000. On a related note I've given some serious thought to selling the B-59 and buying a '69 Camaro, inline-six with four on the floor. If such a car was affordable and readily available. The 69 Camaro was my dream car throughout ALL my childhood and only in recent years replaced by pre-war V16s and the B-59. FIRST before attempting to do anything too involved I need to find/rent a cheap garage.
April 18, 200817 yr Having owned a 70 and a 71 Chevelle with no "B" pillar, I can see Sixty-Eights point. April 18, 200817 yr Great find YJ! That's very tempting. But chances are reserve is about $10,000. That is why you never bother with directly buying from eBay. In not so many words, eBay is like one huge directory to me. :AH-HA_wink: On a related note I've given some serious thought to selling the B-59 and buying a '69 Camaro, inline-six with four on the floor. April 18, 200817 yr Author Well either way B59 > F-body-69 BUt that having been said I'm still a BIG 1st gen. F-body fanatic. A+ parts availability & great fuel economy would be the reason I would consider that kind of "trade down." I know you can negotiate off ebay but that can get you banned, my ebay rating is in the 500s and it's 100% positive! When I sold my '68 Camaro on ebay I refused to deal off ebay, many others are the same way.
April 18, 200817 yr I know you can negotiate off ebay but that can get you banned, my ebay rating is in the 500s and it's 100% positive! Oh, no. I didn't mean haggling with them on eBay via an account. I meant looking for phone numbers, calling the seller, and making a cash offer over the telephone. If the seller is serious about selling what he wants to sell, I know that he will do business in whatever way he can.
April 18, 200817 yr Author Yup, been down that road too but then you have NO protection from eBay or otherwise. I like Craigslist these days.
April 18, 200817 yr Yup, been down that road too but then you have NO protection from eBay or otherwise. Ah, there is the same risk with buying a car from an ad in an Auto Trader magazine, so I am fine with the risks. I like Craigslist these days. Hmm ... I believe I will look for a first-generation Monte for my dad there as soon as I have a free moment.
April 18, 200817 yr Author I take plenty of brazen risks on used/classic/beater cars BUT with eBay you're almost always guaranteed to be paying too much, and or the car is not presented honestly. I get some kickass deals on old school cars but for every great deal you guys hear about, by the time I drag it home I have usually looked at three or four other cars that are complete $h!boxes or dishonestly advertised. Seems like often times "can be daily driver" does not mean that the car needs an oil change & a couple tires... instead the dumbass trying to take your hard earned money will explain once you get there to his house that the car needs a brake line (rotted out recently ...in the fall of 2006) & there "MIGHT" be a little bit of an oil leak in the rear main seal, OH and there's a melted spark plug wire. Oh & the car has not been driven since 2004, but it was started back in 2007, he let it run for a half hour & then after it over heated I did mention that before... right?

That's one of my biggest fears when it comes to buying a classic car like that. One of my friends picked up a 73 skylark...and he has had quite a few issues with it.... It suprises me because he knows his stuff (dad owns a 64 Impy) Makes you wonder... I want a 60s or 70s GM car..something I can work on, and be able to enjoy....and not have to replace the whole engine....

That car is really unique and cool, and I personally would be very sad to see it go. Chris
April 19, 200817 yr Common sense and a few minutes of careful observation will eliminate 99% of the "lemons" While true-people are getting really good at hiding stuff. While his skylark only has minor issues, none of surfaced while he looked over and drove the car.....
