Lovely pics! Cadillac is my favorite NA GM brand.

Beautyfull! :)

*Cums*

What surprises me is the lack of love for 4-Door 1959 Caddies... They were better looking than the convertibles that have become so iconic.

Medium_214200574755PM_SedanDeVille.jpg

Some beauties there...my favorite style of deVille is probably the '67-68 followed by the '69-70... and as far as Eldorados, my favorite is the '67-70 (esp. the '67-68).

Cool car, except it looks like he's carrying a tire in the back seat. Kinda detracts from the image, doesn't it? :AH-HA_wink:

They have made some of the best looking cars bar none. You make me miss my 4.9L V8 powered Sedan Deville even more...

The 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville,

slim pillared hardtops are.

Hey Harley, what is that thing on the dash, almost all the 59's I've seen have them, but I never looked at them up close.

My uncle's '67 Chrysler 300 had one of those: it was a sensor to automatically dim your high beams when an oncoming vehicle approached. We thought it very cool at the time.

I'm trying to think of what it was called.... "Autronic Eye" or "GuideMatic" I believe

Coolest brand in the world, richest history bar none

(except maybe slightly older Mercedes Benz) and

also the most impressive list of luxury car firsts.

The only brand to EVER win UK's coveted Dewar

Trophy twice, not to mention the only American

brand to win it PERIOD. Cadillac was the first

brand to have a 4-cylinder in an era of 1 & 2

cylinder cars, they were the first ones with a V8,

one of the first with a V12 and of course, their

OHV, narrow angle V16 of the early 1930s was

not only an incredible engineering marvel but is

also considered a work of art.

Cadillac is my favorite brand of all time. I think I'm

not alone in this as a first generation East European

immigrant.

Here's how Cadillac's AWESOMENESS breaks down:

1. The Art Deco V16s. (I'd say the tiger hunt V16 is THE coolest car of ALL time!)

800px-Cadillac_V-16_Roadster_1930.jpg

2. The tail fin era... late forties till the mid 1960s for Cadillac

1961 is my FAVORITE, followed closely by 1959.

Retro1958_Cadillac_Fleetwood_Sixty_Speci

3. Cadillac is the ONLY brand in the world that consistently designs

a car's rear end to be just as dynamic & engaging as the front.

The Tail Fin Era is described as the only time in automotive history

when the back of a car would grab your attention just as much if

not more than the front...

But Cadillac, having lost tail fins in 1965 after the sad downsizing

of 1962 to 1964, kept spicing up the rear of its cars, there were

many other interesting one of a kind rear ends to come in the

coming decades. Razorbacks, Bustlebacks, the full width CHiMSL

comprised of LEDs that graced the '92-up Sevilles... To this day

Cadillac designs an ASS that gets noticed.

I'd love to see someone pull off a (production) dual cowl phaeton in 2008. :)

Oooh, I love Bustlebacks!

I bet you say that to all the girls.

Here comes the nitpicker... :

>>"richest history bar none (except maybe slightly older Mercedes Benz)"<<

"Mercedes-Benz" only dates to 1926, prior to that they were 2 separate & independant companies. Which were you referring to, mercedes or benz?

59eldoradosevillesg3.jpg

That's my bee-yoo-tee-ful bodyshell ('59 Invicta 2-dr hardtop).

Balthazar:

Now you're just splicing atoms... I love Cadillac more than MB but dude,

you can not discredit Benz & Daimler's contributions. Henry Leland got

his interest in the automobile a decade after their 3-wheel "car" made

history with the first internal combustion propelled horseless carriage.

Always enjoy your input, Panther.....and I too think Cadillac is THE car brand of all time.

Yes, they had some bumps along the way.

But I forgive them.

Now they just need to bring back a large rwd luxo cruiser with the sexiest styling ever.

I luv the 71 Caddie, has to be one the sexiest car asses ever created:

Thanks Harley... you are always missed around here when you're absent.

Hey thanks for that....I'm so impressed with your knowledge and passion for car culture and GM.

Damn, now I wish I had named this thread 'Cadillac Porn'.

I do get a little damp when I see some of these Cadillac photos...phew.

A touch more modern...but still a dinosaur...

Here was my DD, back in January--just a couple of days post-shop after a complete passenger's side rebuild. Looks a touch better now after a detail, with the only niggle being the varied fade of the rub strips on the passenger's side.

Not bad for 13 years and 133k, I guess. At least not when it still warrants daily stares and has someone in a new Ferrari F430 following me home to see it up close and not want to leave...

Flowmaster mufflers would complete that picture nicely. That is a badass Cadillac, Mr. Cruiser.

The 80 Seville, Allante (though particularly the 2nd gen), 93-96 Fleetwood, and the 80 Sedan de Ville are some of my favorite Cadillac designs. Of the new ones, I love the CTS, CTC and XLR.
